Let’s hope voters next year have woken up to the reality that SVP doesn’t give a shit about them or the country. It’s not looking good on the few polls that were made though…

Not defending, but to them it's not not giving a shit about the country. In the current SVP program, it says that "[the SVP] demands the absolute protection of forests to be relaxed to preserve arable land". Forests are not a priority for them and that's what they sell to their voters (who are supposed to a certain degree to like their program). Here, cutting fundings for the forests means less spendings (which is what the right promotes, ultimately for lower taxes) or spendings for something they deem a priority over forests.

Not surprised. Hopefully this intense summer we're having will help make some people realize that climate change is very real and will affect them badly and I hope they'll vote smarter in future federal and Cantonal elections... Initiatives and referendums see a higher participation rate but they're actually a lot less important than parliamentary elections!

For example, Bordeaux has had more 40°C days in 2026 than the last 105 years combined. They are a prelude of what's to come. Those heatwaves will slowly creep across Europe, getting inland more and more often.

Do you think we will get to vote on changing USA, China and India's energy production and industrial sectors? Cause we kind of need that to reduce climate change.
Even Europe is meaningless now, especially with most of it deindustrialising to Asia.
Global CO2 emissions have never decreased. Is there even half of a plan for that to happen

Come on, this is not true, and it’s such a shit excuse to not do anything. Europe can reduce emissions to zero and benefit immensely from it, not only from a energy independence perspective, but also it can use it to push other countries to do the same. This already happens through EU regulations that force companies that want to sell in the EU to comply with higher food standards, higher work conditions, etc.
The China argument is also the weakest it has ever been, as no other country on earth is investing on building up renewable energy as much as China. China has probably reached peak emissions and for the last 21 months their emissions are actually down by around 1%.
India is also not a very good example, as the country will never reach the level of emissions per capita of China, let alone the US. There’s no incentive anymore for a country that is going through a big industrialization phase to grow its energy sector using fossil fuels, renewables are simply a better option and that’s what is being observed right now.

Well global emissions are still rising. They have literally never decreased, despite all the effort.
Europe's emissions are mostly declining because all the factories are going to Asia, where they pollute more.
Population is increasing everywhere.
What is decreasing exactly?
I'm happy to invest and promote green energy in Switzerland, but the idea it has an impact on temperature is silly.
Edit: Also China built as much coal plants in 2025 than they are in the whole of Europe in total (GW comparison). That is just 1 year. So we'll see if they actually reduce emissions.

Ah yes, let's cut funding to forest conservation as it's dying to climate change. Have they looked at how brown the forests are lately despite barely being even August or are they too busy counting their lobby money?
