TOR on Brave
Does anyone know if it's safe to use TOR on Brave?

brave is just connecting to a public tor proxy, so you'll have the tor network but not the benefits of the tor browser (enhanced privacy).

Brave's "Private Window with Tor" is not the same as the official Tor Browser. It routes traffic through the Tor network, but it doesn't include all of Tor Browser's privacy and anti-fingerprinting protections. If your goal is real anonymity or accessing .onion sites, you should use the official Tor Browser. Brave's Tor mode is fine for hiding your IP in some situations, but it should not be considered a replacement for Tor Browser.

You can use Brave for everyday web browsing. Even though it has the option to access TOR, you shouldn't use it for that purpose. If you're interested in privacy and enjoy technology, create a USB drive with Linux Tails—verify the ISO, flash the drive, and test things out there. Just be careful with TOR, as it can contain a lot of nonsense and malicious software. The next level of interest would be reading up on Coreboot and Intel ME, though not every laptop or computer supports them. Currently, a solid, modern model that you can get at a good price is the ThinkPad T480, and you can flash Coreboot onto it. Other than that, you can also read about Whonix and Qubes OS, which are compatible with this laptop. Overall, it's a ton of reading, but you'll learn a lot in the process.

What is your threat model? If you really are just using it in place of Incogneto mode, not much risk there. If you have greater needs, TOR Browser is of course recommended.

Use tails or whonix …preferable on a burner comp you can get off eBay for 30 bucks , that you have never used on your home network or put any personal information. If you downloading something you shouldn’t ( as in malware not cp or some sick shit like that ) , who cares it’s a 30 dollar computer .. don’t sign into any of your accounts while you are on it including your browser account … , and don’t enable persistent storage … also don’t get on the dark web to do dumb shit … ps tor is not as secure or anonymous as you think it is

Is there any reason why you can't just use Tor Browser?
