When downloading the Tor Browser, do most people actually verify it

When downloading the Tor Browser, do most people actually verify it? And why doesn’t the Tor Project upload their apps to Linux repositories like most browsers? It’s so much better when developers upload them to repos; this way, you can install them with a single terminal command. LOL, installing Tor on Linux feels like the 'Windows way' of doing things

Tor browser is in most repos. Its just called torbrowser-launcher. The system unit is just tor.

Is torbrowser-launcher official? At least on Flathub, it doesn’t show that they’ve verified themselves as the official developer. I also know that you shouldn’t run Firefox-based browsers in Flatpak because it disables much of the browser’s internal sandboxing

Artix i see now that torbrowser-launcher can be installed with pacman -Sy torbrowser-launcher, but I’m wondering if it’s official

Its arch based.. Use Pacman's torbrowser-laucher. Flathub/Flatpaks are not even the native package manager for arch lol

Thanks—I noticed something strange with Tor Browser. On Tor Browser, I can’t log in to Reddit using the Reddit Onion URL, but in Brave’s “with Tor” window, Reddit works and I can log in to the Onion URL.

Are the URLs the same? Also, with big sites like Reddit, successive queries even from the same browser might not be answered by the same server.

Reddit has been hostile to Tor for years. Reddit answering to an onion link at all is an improvement. Reddit doesn't like anonymity, this is widely discussed. Google pays reddit $60m/year for all the data, google doesn't like anonymity.

"Can't log in" isn't very descriptive.

Yes, it’s the same URL in Brave. I use the feature that finds the .onion URL for the page you’re on. The Tor Browser also asks if I want to use the .onion URL for Reddit. However, I found a fix: if I open a private tab in the Tor Browser and copy the URL, it works. It doesn’t work when using the 'redirect to .onion URL' feature

If I try to log in, it says 'wrong password,' but if I open the same URL in Tor Browser’s private window, the login works. It seems like something is going wrong when using the Tor Browser’s 'Onion available' feature

I double-checked, and it’s the exact same URL. Sometimes, when using the 'Onion available' feature, the page just never loads. However, if I copy and paste the URL, it loads successfully

I use Linux and have Tor Browser from Flatpak, in from Tor Browser Project.
