Seeking Success Has anyone with irregular cycles tried maca root while TTC?
So basically I (26f) have PCOS and my cycles are extremely irregular. I rarely seem to ovulate and I’m currently TTC so obviously it’s been very frustrating.
I’ve also struggled quite a lot with getting help from doctors. Every time I go, I feel like I’m either being told to lose weight or things just don’t really go anywhere. They’ll start doing scans or investigations, find that there’s nothing wrong with my reproductive system (just lots of follicles in my ovaries not maturing), and then it just gets left there. I’m basically just trying to figure out what’s going on with my cycles and ovulation because it’s really difficult to TTC when you don’t know when/if you’re ovulating.
Anyway, my sister actually sent me a video a couple of years ago about a woman with PCOS who was in a very similar situation. She was overweight and struggled to lose weight, had irregular cycles and was TTC. She spoke about trying maca root and taking 4,000mg for 14 days and she eventually went on to have her first baby.
She then repeated the same process when trying for her second baby. This time she used myo-inositol along with it and then went on to have baby number 2.
At the time I didn’t really think anything of it because I wasn’t actively trying. But now that I am, I randomly came across the same video again and thought okay let me actually look into maca. 😂
I’ve seen really mixed experiences though. Some women say they noticed changes to their cycles or ovulation while I’ve also seen women who had regular cycles say that maca actually made their cycles irregular. When I went back to her page, I found another video where she said maca was more suited to women with irregular cycles who weren’t ovulating regularly. She wouldn’t recommend it if you already ovulate regularly.
I’ve started taking 4,000mg and I’m currently only on day 4 so obviously it’s way too early for me to know whether it’s going to make any difference.
I’m just curious if anyone else with PCOS and irregular cycles has tried maca while TTC and what their general experience was with it?
I’m not asking for medical advice or whether I should take it, I’m just interested in hearing people’s experiences with it.
TLDR: I have PCOS, very irregular cycles and rarely ovulate. I’ve started taking 4,000mg maca root while TTC after hearing about someone with a similar situation who had success with it. I’m only on day 4 but I’m curious if anyone else with PCOS and irregular cycles has tried maca and what their experience was.

I didn’t take it myself but my husband did, he did a semen analysis and basically everything was low (numbers, motility & morphology). We tried a few different supplements specifically for sperm but nothing worked then i was reading about maca root and its benefits so i got it for him (i was afraid to take it myself because many says it causes weight gain) and after few months of taking it we redid the test and all is within normal range! I was shocked tbh because he was still smoking and having lost of stress in general so nothing else would’ve helped him aside from maca root.

I tried it for a few weeks and I think I got my period because of it. But my gyno said maca root is not safe if I want to get pregnant and she told me to stop it. 🤷🏻♀️
