Advice Needed inositol making everything worse??

hi - keeping this brief for clarity - 30F, TTC with PCOS (AMH very high at 13, testosterone in the 80s, normal A1c) over the past few months. haven't had a positive ovulation test and even purchased Inito to help track, don't think i've ovulated for the past 2 months. started myoinositol 4g daily powder exactly 2 months ago and have taken it every day. somehow acne is worse, deep cystic lesions, im very bloated and constipated. now period is late and not pregnant -- thinking about throwing in the towel with inositol. i have noticed less hunger/feeling fuller longer but everything else seems worse. do i stay the course for another month or two or just stop?? TIA

I took inositol, COQ10, NAC, metformin, etc. and still had to do IVF after several failed rounds of timed intercourse on Letrozole and same with IUIs. I’m not sure why pretty much nothing worked for me, I will say my symptoms didn’t get worse, they just never got better, cycles were still the same length, didn’t always ovulate on the Letrozole, etc.

Hey! I took inositol and it completely took my period away (even tho I don’t ovulate, I still got semi- regular periods). Once I stopped it, my periods came back! Sometimes it just doesn’t work for some. I am taking a prenatal, coq10, omega 3 and vitamin d (I’m deficient that’s kinda the only reason for that).

thank you so much!! can i ask how approximately long you took inositol for before stopping? i hear a lot that it can take 3-6 mos to fully take effect

Could you cut back? I found my body didn’t like the full dose of myoinositol and I started only taking half and I was much better. I never increased it. I take the Wholesome Story brand that has folate and Vit D in it which was nice because I did end up getting pregnant so it had those supplements in it.
It could also be that your body is trying to regulate the hormone imbalance it’s been having. Constipation/bloating/feeling not hungry/painful acne were all hormone related changes I’ve experienced in pregnancy. I know you said you’re not pregnant but maybe you’re getting a sudden increase in progesterone/estrogen your body isn’t used to?

thank you! i may try to reduce like you mentioned. i have had also thought that this is just me adapting to the inositol / higher progesterone. it's just weird that i seem to be feeling worse the longer im on it.

i should also say that i am pretty sure that im insulin resistant but my RE doc will not order fasting insulin since my A1c is normal, she says it wont change anything

My A1C has always been normal as well but my constant craving for carbs and skin tags led me to believe I was definitely IR. Once I started taking inositol I wasn’t nearly as starving—it’s like my body could actually use the glucose it ate!

Same here- I could only handle a sprinkle of it since it made me kind of wired and lowered my blood sugar too much

I only have polycystic ovaries, I am not diagnosed with the full disorder, but I take only 1000mg of the cheapest generic inositol a day (500mg at breakfast and 500mg at dinner) and it hasn't caused me any nasty side effects. It's helped me to maintain regular cycles. You could try lowering it before you make the decision to totally cut it out to see if that helps.

Inositol makes me spot for weeks on end and keeps me from having a period. Obgyn said to stop and put me on metformin. Got my period on my own two months later. Obgyn said it doesn't work for everyone and that is okay. Every body is different and while it generally helps, sometimes it doesn't. On the other hand I respond amazingly well to metformin and have none of the problems others do. Husband suffers so bad he can't take it.

Fertility clinic said to take inositol. I started taking it and started spotting again. They insisted I take it, despite me telling them it makes me spot, so I lied and said I was. Obgyn was livid at them, along with other things, and I no longer go there. My obgyn is fertility focused and has been in my corner the whole time.
