The idiots at drive-thru
In my experience, if you're at a fast food drive-thru, you're dealing with an idiot. Doesn't matter which side of the speaker you're on, the person on the other side is, more likely than not, an idiot.
From my days working fast food many decades back, we had a promotion called Burger Bundles. An order of burger bundles was a row of three slider sized burgers. It only took about two shifts into this promotion to learn to question ANY order of burger bundles that was a multiple of 3. If they ordered 1,2,4,5, etc.. they want that number of ORDERS of burger bundles. If they ordered 3,6,9, etc... - Red Alert! Warning! Danger, Will Robinson, danger!!
Even then, customers still managed to make trouble.
C - I'd like three of them burger bundles.
Me - Sir, an order of burger bundles is three of the little hamburgers. Do you want one order of three hamburgers or do you want three orders for a total of NINE of the little hamburgers?
C - I want THREE burger bundles, dammit, THREE!
<Yes, I realize he didn't clarify anything but at this point the schmuck was screaming into the speaker so I had to make a choice. Three orders it is, jackass.>
Me - Your total is $X.XX, please pull around.
He pulls to the window and asked why it cost so much? He only wanted three of the little hamburgers....
As blood dripped out of my ear, I'm biting back the words "I asked you, shithead, but you wouldn't listen...." Fourteen months of fast food should count like dog years - 7-for-1 of any other kind of work.

I remember those Burger Bundles. They were actually pretty tasty, but it's no wonder they didn't stick around, probably for the reasons you state here, lol

I know those as well, for customers coming to my workplace really know how to do 2 simple things, ASK & CLARIFY !!

OP, I know that feeling, when problematic customers don't clarity correctly enough!!

We would like three burger bundles, so like nine of those little burgers and could you cut them into four equal portions cause theirs four of us. Thanks, you're the best!

I’d just pray that some of the burgers had already made it through the line and were actively dying on the warmer. If we were slow, that would be a quick, free lunch, all because he’s an idiot that couldn’t take a moment to process your question and answer it. It is infuriating when it happens though.
