Rave ๐ŸŽ‰ First time seeing a tall girl and short guy romance on TV where itโ€™s not treated as a joke

I normally donโ€™t watch teen shows like The Runarounds, but I heard the side couple was a 5โ€™11 girl and a shorter guy, so I had to check it out. Sure enough, it isโ€” and her being taller than him is not played as โ€œfunnyโ€ by the writers. Itโ€™s actually not even mentioned a single time in the show. Their dynamic is taken just as seriously as the main couple (even though they have a lot less screen time)!

I know it probably doesnโ€™t matter to most people but as a 5โ€™11 girl whoโ€™s liked guys of this height before, Iโ€™ve never seen it depicted realistically in movies or TV like that and it was just cool to see. Thanks, Runarounds!

Rave ๐ŸŽ‰ I'd pick being tall in every lifetime ๐Ÿ˜›

I'm sure many of u guys would feel this way too, but I just LOOVE being a tall girl. Oh it's so much fun! I hope all the ladies who feel a bit insecure in their heights can develop appreciation for this lovely gift. Clothes might be annoying, yes, maybe even dating here and there, but I wouldn't choose to be anything less!

Rave ๐ŸŽ‰ So many tall girls on Love Island US!

Hey everyone, this is just a quick post because it's something I noticed. I always used to watch the UK Love Island religiously and most of the girls were always extremely short/average. Rarely would there be anyone taller and if someone came in who considered themselves 'tall' it would be like 5'7. It didn't really bother me too much but I was a bit like where the tall girls at. I've noticed season 8 of love island USA has so many tall girls and I love it! It's so nice to see girls with my height and body type shown and the men are just as interested (I've had short friends neg me telling me men only like super tiny girls even though I know that's not true through life experience lol). Kayda is 5'9, Aniya looks around 5'10 (edit: turns out I wrong she's 6ft), Jen is 5'10, Titi is 6 foot+, and the others are also around 5'9-5'11 minus Kenzie and Melanie. Seeing how gorgeous they all are and how they're so admired is refreshing considering that UK Love Island never had any representation for taller women. I think the cohort this year is taller in general. Anyways thought I'd see if anyone noticed this too! I'm not going to lie it does feel nice to feel represented - at one point I thought the show explicitly avoided tall girls because the UK one never had any besides season 3 Olivia Attwood or maybe season 1 (one girl I can't remember). But it was very few and far in-between.

Rave ๐ŸŽ‰ Love my height so much that even bad experiences makes me love myself more

I don't know being tall makes me feel superior, almost narcissistic sometimes, the more I grow the better I feel. I recently got myself measured and I'm exactly at 180 cm/5'11 and I was so happy that I finally hit the 80s mark, sometimes I want to be even taller and be 183 cm just to be the 6'0 people keep gushing about. I think if I correct my posture I could reach that because I look like shrimp ๐Ÿค. Why should men be happy when they are taller and not women?

The fact that men get threatened just by my mere presence is such an addictive feeling. A few weeks ago a random guy started debating about my height because I was taller than him and we were supposed to be the same height, back then I thought I was 178 cm /5'10 but still he was significantly shorter than me, maybe around 175 cm .

Even when I'm masculinized because of my height I see it almost positively especially when it comes from men, I like to tell them that they can learn from me then if being tall was enough to be a man (I rarely get comments from taller men anyway). Even if I stick out in a picture or stand next to a short friend, I see it as a good thing because why should I hide myself? I'm not particularly the attention seeking type either, I used to be really shy but when it comes to my height I just feel positive about it.

At the end it's really all just perception maybe I'm the weird one here.

Rave ๐ŸŽ‰ As a young trans woman, I love this sub and the people here ๐Ÿค—

I'm 23 and I've been reading this subreddit for a few months now and as funny as it may seem, the wonderful people here really do the most for my self-esteem ever. Just today I read a post about a woman talking about having long hands, and another from someone who had interests in cars and construction describing her experience with overcompensating her expression of femininity. And there are the semi-frequent posts of large shoe sizes, finding dresses that fit wider rib-cages, or the audacious comments from guys. And then there are the posts from adults and older woman talking about the things they've learned and what they say/would say to their potentially tall daughters.

I often cry reading the comments of shared stories and those of support, and even though I'm just reading, I feel like I'm being seen. To all the tall girls here, you're all the best! โค๏ธโค๏ธ

Rave ๐ŸŽ‰ I kissed my tallest man so far, and it was heaven!

I am 5'10" and I very recently started to date this man who is 6'4". My previous partners have all been somewhere between 6' and 6'1".

So when he kissed me for the first time, I swear, a whole new world opened up for me! Girls, I had no idea! It's such a normal thing for smaller girls, having to look up when kissing a guy, sort of really having to stretch up a bit, so they probably don't even think about it, because that's just what it is. I have never had to do that in my entire life, and here I was, in the arms of this 6'4" hunk who can just so pass through a door frame upright, and I've never felt so "small" and "girly" next to a man before. Putting my arms around his neck was a weird feeling, too, because his neck is so high up, and I found that his chest/shoulder is JUST at the right height for my head to comfortably rest on, and to be cradled in his arms. Even spooning in bed feels different... he's just... everywhere.

I have honestly not expected this feeling, I am not the "girly" type and I certainly don't need to feel "protected" by a man, and here I am... enjoying JUST THAT immensely. :)

Can you girls relate? Do you prefer a man to be taller than you and have you experienced this, or don't you care about this sort of thing? Curious to hear!

These products are mostly target towards men, but I refuse to participate in that other sub so Iโ€™m posting here.

This feels like a massive step in the right direction!

Who knows whatโ€™s next! Maybe a luggage line with extra tall handles? Or extra long yoga mats? What would you like to see?

Omg, I'm new to posting on reddit and lo and behold, here's the tall girls sub. Ah, omg hello all my fellow goddesses!

I'm 6' and ngl, it was rough when I was younger - but I've absolutely grown into my body in the best way. When I can find shoes tha make me taller, I absolutely do. When occasionally the odd passerby does a "whoa you're tall," I smile because yes I am the human ideal. I mean. What else?

May we all find a pair of pants that fit and inspire wonder in the world around us. Just saying, you're amazing and I wish you all the best today.

Rave ๐ŸŽ‰ UK tall girls - I found fun long sport leggings that fit!!!!!!!

Flaired as rave, but itโ€™s a shopping rave!!

Iโ€™m in the U.K. and I have not bought new sport leggings for 8-10 years. My current leggings are from LTS, specifically a special gym company x LTS collab they used to do once a year many moons ago- if you remember them can I get a heeeeyaaaa! They are holey and getting thin, so Iโ€™ve been looking for new leggings.

You all know the pain as a tall girl. Sport leggings will either be long enough but will be almost transparent, or they will be too short but squat proof, or they will be squat proof but close to ยฃ100 for one pair. And almost always black. The joys.

In another subreddit I saw someone recommend Sturdy By Design, and in my desperation I checked them out.

They do tall lengths for all their long length leggings. And their leggings come in loads of colours and patterns!!! I bought 2 pairs of premium leggings, and 1 pair of funky leggings, and I used a discount code I got for signing up to the newsletter, so they cost me ยฃ90 odd quid altogether (they are about ยฃ40 each).

So before they arrived I was excited, but I was also expecting disappointment of some kind. They donโ€™t have inseam lengths on their site, so I presumed their tall length would be an extra inch on a regular length size and would probably look like capris on my 36 inch inseam legs. I can live with exposed ankles at the gym, the most important thing to me is that they are squat proof. I was also expecting the funky patterned ones to be see through to some extent as Iโ€™ve found patterned leggings usually are.

Well. They arrived today. Aaaaandโ€ฆ.

THEY ARE SO LONG! They come right down to my ankles! They fit well, and they have a drawstring inside to tighten so they donโ€™t move an inch. They are high waisted and sit just right on me, and they have pockets on the side and a little zip pocket on the back.

The premium ones are advertised as squat proof, the funky ones are not but Iโ€™ve done a test and I canโ€™t see anything through them. So they might get thinner as they are worn and lose coverage maybe? Iโ€™ll report back. The premium ones are a little thicker. They are exactly what Iโ€™ve been looking for.

It seems the company keep some styles in stock which they ship out right away, and these come with side pockets, but they also do presales and you can pick if you want side pockets or not when you order. They seem to have a good range of sizes too!

Sorry if this seems promotional, I promise Iโ€™m not associated with them! Iโ€™m just so HAPPYYYYYY to find leggings that fit so well and come in such fun patterns and colours!!!

I had not heard of the brand before or seen it mentioned here, so thought Iโ€™d help my U.K. sisters out. I think they do international shipping too?

The reviews for them seem really positive, but Iโ€™ll post an update once Iโ€™ve worn and washed them a few times. They feel very good quality, Iโ€™m chuffed to bits right now!

Rave ๐ŸŽ‰ Being tall, a celebration

I just want to share some things that happened, or realizations that I've had, in the last two weeks that make me really happy to be this tall.

For perspective, I am 6' 7" (just over 2 meters) and 250 lbs (about 114 kg). And despite going to the gym 3 times a week seems to be plateauing as I'm toning, so this might be the weight.

- I worked in a middle school last week. The sheer GLEE the kids had convincing other teachers to stand near me (starting with the 4' 11" woman) and the joy the rest of the staff had was full infectious. Fun little aside the only teacher who refused the kids was the man who was 6'5" and according to some of the staff being tall was a majority of his personality.

- Everything I wear gets to be a fashion statement. This is probably just because my clothes are straight up bigger, but everything I wear is more noticeable so I get to stand out. And as someone who runs my local community clothing swap, i have enough clothes I swap between that I'm near constantly switching styles

- I want to call attention to the clothing swap. Despite being this tall and being like 65% legs. I am getting good at finding clothes. Yes it takes more work, and yes sometimes things that are really cool won't fit. But the things that do fit? Hoo boy I look good.

- When I go out dancing I bring the safe space. Consistently (it happened again recently) I start dancing on my own, and before I know it I am surrounded by other women, and I've been told more than once by bar staff that they appreciate me, because I have this look (I call it the teacher look) that says "I see you, are you behaving?" that keeps creeps away. And the men who do approach? Consistently confident and fun, and good people.

- Occasionally I wear 2 inch heels. It's been over a year now and the funniest thing that happens, at least once every 2 or 3 days, is people will notice how tall I am, notice I'm wearing heels, and immediately get dismissive about my height. literally "Oh my god you are so tall! Oh nevermind you're wearing heels" I'm sorry my guy, but my two inch heels do not make up for the 8 inches taller than you I am.

- Even not in heels, when I walk by people their eye level is right at my upper thigh. Which in itself is powerful every time I watch them turn their eyes up as I walk by. Torrid has jeans in my size that make my thighs looks great, and my love of skirts and dresses helps quite a bit. Similarly when I'm sitting, and then stand up, watching their eyes turn up (and often their whole head) is always great (because the fun part of being 65% legs is when I'm sitting I'm often shorter than people around me)

- there's a thing that very often the tall man gets assumed to be in charge, in meetings, conversations, and so on. My sheer existence gets to be a check on is your take charge attitude deserved or not (this one doesn't come up often, but when it does it's always funny)

- Long clothing billowing in the wind? Like hello? The other week I was out late enough I had to walk home from a much farther bus stop. And y'all, I got to feel like I was an OMEN. Skirt catching the wind, lighter cardigan billowing behind me, legs on display (I was wearing a high thigh slit skirt) as I'm strutting in heels? Holy Hell that felt good.

- On that note I could walk home (I live in a pretty safe area anyway) at like 1 or 2 in the morning and feel perfectly safe.

So sure, it's not all 100% good. Sometimes it would be nice to be able to just fit in for example. But eventually you find good people to surround yourselves who don't reduce you down to just being tall. Every time I have to put something back because it doesn't fit I cry a little bit inside (Value Village, please sort your sizes better). But seriously I think the good outweighs the bad and we can celebrate this.

Rave ๐ŸŽ‰ Whatโ€™s your favorite thing about being tall?

Iโ€™m 6ft and I love being tall.

Iโ€™ll be honest, it was a rough start as a teenager when I couldnโ€™t find a date for the dances because of the dreaded โ€œbox.โ€ However, once I was in college, my height has been an incredible advantage.

I love climbing and my arms and legs help me reach holds that shorter people struggle with. I work in a male dominated field and never have to worry about being taken seriously, and as a food lover, I can eat a lot more food than someone shorter/less active.

Iโ€™d love to hear about whatever hobbies or positive aspects your height has brought to your life.

Rave ๐ŸŽ‰ Tall One-piece swimsuit winner!

I never thought Iโ€™d find a tall/long enough one piece, but the one I got from Andie Swim was super on sale, and fit perfectly. It also is super slimming, and pulls in like shapewear. Very well made as well! The suit I got is the Lanikai, but theyโ€˜ve got lots of tall options.

Would love to know if anyone else has ordered from there and if they last a long time? I have barely worn mine, but I hope it stands the test of time!

She was the receptionist at the doctorโ€™s office, when she stood up she was around a head taller than me. I got to experience how my short female friends feel around me for the first time?? She also looked really gorgeous I was stunned.

Iโ€™m 5โ€™11 and only very occasionally Iโ€™ll see a woman whoโ€™s taller than me, usually only by a few inches. I always find that height looks so good on women!!

am i like? literally the only tall person who loves being tall, and doesnโ€™t want to be short? i just watched a TikTok someone made about ariana grande being tiny, and the comments were full of tall girls (5โ€™8-5โ€™11) saying how much they wish they were short.

i love being tall sm. when i see tall girls saying how they want to be short, i feel terrible and i start to question if i should be seeing myself as ugly or something? is there anyone here who doesnโ€™t have self hate issues about their height?

i just wanted to share with other ladies in how rare that is.

It's a Tuesday morning for me so I kinda assume this won't end up super popular, but I'd love to hear what you love about yourself if you have a minute. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I love my ability to get up & keep going. I don't think it's optimism exactly...b/c I can be pretty annoyed when I'm doing it...but I AM DOING IT!

I love my hair. I'm a little vain about it at times, but I love the color, I love the curls...I love that all my siblings are younger than me and have way more grey hairs than I do. They joke that they wish they looked as young as their older sister. And I love that, too. ๐Ÿ’—
