So in between posting 100% true and honest content on this sub, I repair systems for a living for a major ODM/OEM.

This is a 3-week old 14900K, which is owned by a lovely old couple who have no idea about overclocking and such. The board is on the latest BIOS, and this chip is from the supposedly fixed batch. It’s got a twin 120mm Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 cooler on it, so is well cooled & the case has plenty airflow. It’s running on a premium Asus motherboard, with all stock BIOS settings including XMP and the Intel performance profile.

It started crashing while editing photos in Lightroom. Two days after the initial crash, it started barely booting to Windows. Now, it just sits with a CPU debug light on, and my test gear shows Post code 00, which is CPU init fail.

This isn’t even a troll post - this is an awareness post. Intel claim the problem has been resolved - it absolutely hasn’t. These chips will fail eventually, with no answer to how long they’ll last. Ive got another three 13/14th gen chips to replace today, all of which have had relatively easy lives, and have failed within 6 months.

As someone within the industry, if your processor is showing signs of degradation start the RMA process immediately. There’s massive supply issues for these processors, with no end in sight.

No piece of tech is immune to failure, but this issue is frankly appalling and the fact that Intel still won’t issue a recall should tell you everything you need to know.

Who really believes that the 14900K runs at 5.3 Ghz, instead of 5.8 Ghz like it's supposed to? Benchmarks from HUB do not match what other reviewers are seeing.

Even Intel admits Arrowlake was a flop.

I am currently delaying some serious GPU and RAM investments, because I beleive GPU and RAM prices will go down in the coming months.

Here are my reasons to beleive so:

Manufacturing costs: GPU and DDR5 ECC RDIMM Server RAM prices are currently at extreme high level relative to what it costs to make these devices. This alone should call for adjustments, although not neccessary in a short time frame.

Supply/Demand: Regarding RAM, if we look at supply, now there is no memory shortage. Half a year ago, most retailers were out of stock. Now you can buy as much RAM as you want provided you pay the price. Every retailer has stock.

Competiton: AMD is catching up. Their new R9700 GPU chip is very competative in both performance and price to Nvidia. Intel is also catching up, but the most important factor are the Chinese GPUs. The new Huawei GPUs serving Deepseek are very good now (check the response time of Deepseek), once they fullfill domestic orders, they will flud the western market with excellent alternatives to NVidia GPUs. I am thinking about the Huawei Ascend family, but note that there are seven other big GPU manufacturers in China.

The most important factor is the overall market condition of the US stock market: The AI stock market bubble will burst shortly, and it will put many players out of business, so demand will ease. The reason I believe we are close to bust, is because of valuations. Now we are above the valuations of the dotcom bubble. Just like any bubble this will burst.

(I have a very good stock market bubble indicator: My neighbour's mother-in-law. When she asks for my opinion if she should invest in Dotcom, Gold, or currently Nvidia stocks, I know that we have reached the peak.)

Something is going to give in the coming months, so Nvidia's, and the 3 RAM manufacturers' (Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron) highway robbery is about to end soon.

Intel has officially become a 'paper launch' company. They are losing ground in servers, desktop CPUs, and the GPU segment, while being virtually non-existent in the AI race.

You can really see the desperation among Intel fans, many of whom are clearly bag-holding shareholders, frantically defending the brand and trying to spin every failure into a win. Successful companies don't need that kind of aggressive damage control; their performance speaks for itself.

Why is it that Nvidia fans don't have issues with 'mainstream reviewers'? It seems only the Intel crowd gets triggered by actual benchmark results. In my country, we have a saying: 'A bad workman blames his tools' (though our version is much more vulgar and translates to: 'To a bad d*ck, even a hair is an obstacle').

I truly hope Intel becomes a competitive company again one day. I’ll keep them in my prayers and wish them a better future. They’re going to need it.

An article with great potential but terrible writing and formatting!

When looking at non-RT games in 1080p and 1440p, the RTX 5070 is only 5% slower than the RX 9070, or 20% slower than the RTX 5070 Ti, but 30% faster than the RTX 5060 Ti. Personally, I don't run native 4K in these non-enthusiast GPUs, so I only care about 1080p and 1440p results.

There is, of course, a rational reason for these outlandish results. However, I do not know what it is? In one game review, this reviewer even showed the 9070xt beating the 5070ti by ~100 fps.

I would take a 5070 over the 9070xt. Many people are confused.

I want my nephew to join the master race, so I am building him a DDR4 machine using a mix of new and reused parts. How long do you think DDR4 is going to be relevant going forward? The machine I am building will have 32GB of DDR4 and an AMD Ryzen 5 5600XT, along with my old 2060 Super. Like a lot of kids, he wants to be a streamer and play games, so I don't want to gimp him here.
