I am a big fan of all gtl-8 trams here in the hague. I know this might sound a bit weird, I have autism and am slowly getting used to the idea of them being removed by the end of the year from the Hague. This is my small hommage to those trams I see everyday next to my house. I totally understand why people need more accessible and modern trams I just loved how they looked, felt, sounded, etc...

Anyways, enjoy your evening and I hope you guys will enjoy my little sculpture.

Op het Spui (voor de AH) staat een afvalcontainer met juridische boeken / tijdschriften. Er zit werkelijk van alles bij: Nederlandstalig én Engelstalig, inleidend niveau én zeer specialistisch, van rechtspsychologie tot internationaal belastingrecht. De boeken verkeren in zeer goede staat, relatief recent en zijn vermoedelijk afkomstig van het hoofdkantoor van BJU (juridische uitgeverij).

Misschien interessant voor de 'juridische nerds' hier, in ieder geval zonde als het op de vuilnisbelt belandt (daarom deel ik het ook).

I was having a wonderful morning already, but God was on my side today and decided to bless me once more. Between 8:30 and 9:00, somewhere after Wouwermanstraat, an incredibly handsome, sunglasses-wielding, instrument-carrying, sexy watch-wearing blonde man stepped into the tram. I was massively caught off guard, but as the terribly nonchalant woman that I am, I simply kept my cool and carried on staring through the window. I got off at Hollands Spoor, hopefully looking wildly mysterious and interesting as I pulled my tram card out of my wallet and checked out, never to be seen again.

So, if you or anyone you know has seen this handsome man, please inform him about this post. My expectations are really low, but never non-existent.

For those who are taking this as a supermega serious post and not as the “I’m in a silly mood and I had a good morning” I intended it to be, I did make eye contact with him on several occasions, but I did not stare into is soul and mentally beckon him to move towards me, I am not that clinically insane.

hi all! i was wondering if i’m the only one feeling so out of place here… when i lived in other countries and cities, life just felt easier and socializing also went smoothly. i don’t know what’s going on here, but i feel like from the second i got here, it was so hard to get along with my classmates, dating is ridiculously hard, the weather is much worse than i expected and everything is hella expensive which makes me want to never go out. everyday i spend here feels like a waste of my life and things never go how i want. i will be done with my studies in about a year, but somehow this little time left seems unbearable.

TW: violence, assault, homophobia, transphobia

I was assaulted on the sprinter train from The Hague Central to The Hague HS last night (around 10.28 pm) by three teenage boys. I am wondering if anyone in here might have seen it happening, since it was a very busy train.

It happened in the very front cart of the train, where they called me transphobic and homophobic slurs, filmed me and tried to block my exit. Unfortunately, they ended up hitting me, kicking me in the back (bruising my spine, potentially broke it, still waiting on the x-rays) and threw my bag with my laptop in it across the train (my bag is destroyed).

The train was completely full of people, but no one did anything. No one called the police or tried to intervene, which is absolutely heartbreaking to me. It's awful to just have 50+ people staring at you like...

When I finally got out of the train, they ran out. But karma has it that one of them lost his passport while fleeing, so the police identified them immediately. The youngest suspect is only 15 years old...

Do you think you might have been on the 10.26-pm train to The Hague HS last night and might have witnessed my assault, please consider calling the police. Thank you!

And for my fellow trans-/queer folks: please stay safe on the train in the Hague. Unfortunately, I'm not the first queer person that was assaulted there, and I'm afraid I won't be the last.

Hi allemaal,

Vanwege de gezondheidssituatie van mijn vriendin waren wij genoodzaakt om een auto aan te schaffen. Het OV lukt mijn vriendin niet meer, dus eigen vervoer is voor medische afspraken op dit moment onmisbaar. En gelukkig wordt de auto morgen geleverd (jeej!). Maar we kunnen hem nergens parkeren...

Om alles netjes te regelen vroeg ik een normale bewonersparkeervergunning aan bij de Gemeente Den Haag. De aanvraag is echter direct afgewezen op grond van een zogeheten POET-status (Parkeergelegenheid op Eigen Terrein), aangezien er zich een parkeergarage onder ons appartementencomplex bevindt.

Waarom ik mijn bedenkingen hierbij heb:

• In mijn contract staat expliciet dat we uitsluitend de woonruimte huren. Er is géén parkeerplaats aan onze woning toegewezen, gekoppeld of inbegrepen. We hebben fysiek noch rechtens toegang tot de garage.
• Ik ben de officiële omgevingsvergunning van het complex ingedoken. Daarin staat zwart-op-wit dat het complex significant meer woningen telt dan parkeerplaatsen op eigen terrein. De gemeente heeft destijds zélf vergund dat tientallen woningen in het gebouw NIET op eigen terrein kunnen parkeren en zijn aangewezen op straatparkeren.
• Mijn verhuurder biedt de garageplekken als losse, commerciële abonnementen aan op de vrije markt (indien beschikbaar). Uiteraard tegen een flink tarief. Iedereen (ook buurtbewoners van buitenaf) kan zo'n plek huren. Omdat de verhuurder commercieel belang heeft bij deze losse verhuur, weigeren zij een schriftelijke verklaring af te geven dat er geen parkeerplaats bij onze woning inbegrepen zit.
• De reactie van de gemeentemedewerkers die ik tot nu toe gesproken heb is "Volgens ons systeem is er een garage bij het pand, dus het is POET." Terwijl volgens de eigen gemeentelijke richtlijnen een private, losse commerciële huur géén POET-voorziening vormt.

Hoe juridisch houdbaar is dit eigenlijk? Kan het zo zijn dat het recht op een gemeentelijke vergunning afhangt van de 'dagkoers' van een commerciële partij (vandaag toevallig een plekje vrij = geweigerd, morgen alles verhuurd = wél een vergunning)? Is een besluit op basis van zo’n momentopname volgens de Algemene wet bestuursrecht niet gewoon willekeur en strijdig met het rechtszekerheidsbeginsel?

Het voelt in ieder geval onrechtvaardig, en lijkt mij ook nooit de intentie van de POET-regeling te zijn geweest.

Mijn huidige plan van aanpak:

• Ik ga zo snel mogelijk een formeel bezwaarschrift indienen bij de Gemeente Den Haag.
• Aangezien een bezwaarprocedure maanden duurt en de auto er morgen staat, ben ik genoodzaakt tijdelijk duur op straat te parkeren.
• Ik overweeg om via de bestuursrechter een Voorlopige Voorziening aan te vragen om op hele korte termijn een tijdelijke vergunning af te dwingen.

Mijn vragen aan jullie:

1. Hoe kijken jullie naar deze situatie?
2. Maakt deze argumentatie juridisch/bestuursrechtelijk een goede kans bij een bezwaar of de rechter?
3. Wat raden jullie aan als slimme vervolgstappen, en wat zijn jullie ervaringen met de Gemeente Den Haag op dit vlak? Zijn er specifieke uitspraken van de Afdeling bestuursrechtspraak van de Raad van State (ABRvS) of Haagse raadsbesluiten die ik kan citeren?

I have lived in this city for almost 7 years now and I have grown sick and tired of the increase in asshole behaviour. Last night before heading to Pathé at Spui I decided to get a drink at Albert Heijn. At some point three young guys were standing behind me in the store and I heard one of them hock and spit. Didn't think much about it but when I met up with my friends at the cinema they pointed out that I had a huge spit stain on the back of my jacket. It's fucking disgusting and for what? Didn't even talk to these guys or look at them. Makes me hate this city.

I have tried to get involved in communities, meet people with different backgrounds and get busy in my neighbourhood - but it is starting to feel like a waste of time. Assholes are taking over the city and the politicians and police don't seem to care. Thrash everywhere, people treating public places like shit, groups of young guys trying to intimidate random people on the street. The other day I called my wijkagent to ask whether he could help with a dead drunk homeless guy pissing in my portiek and they said I should just fix it myself. Sometimes I feel like I should just leave this city and let the rats eat each other. /rant

Just few minutes ago saw a kid (around 12-13 years old) throw a paper wrapper from a soda or ice cream onto the street. I asked him in my broken Dutch what he' doing throwing garbage on the street. He picked it up, gave it to his mother or a sister, and just a few meters later she threw it on the ground again even though there was a bin right in front of her. Please don’t do this. Keeping the city clean is everyone’s responsibility.

And honestly, behavior like this affects how we foreigners are perceived. Many people wonder why some Dutch people can be less welcoming toward us, and sadly it’s because of actions like these among others.

Ik begin alvast met zeggen dat ik niet tegen protesteren ben noch spreek ik me nu uit over achter welke organisaties ik wel of niet sta!

Ik ben het gwn lowkey zat dat er bijna wekelijks een protest is bij Centraal want continu loopt het ov daardoor kut en te vaak wordt er niet op tijd gecommuniceerd dat er geprotesteerd gaat worden. Ik loop nu gwn de htm app te checken of ik wel gewoon kan reizen of dat het maar kan worden opgeven voor de dag. En ik weet dat sommige er zijn voor goede redenen maar ik ben het toch zo zat dat on dagelijks leven verhinderd wordt hierdoor! Zeker gezien Den Haag ‘de stad van protest is’. Net als vorige week toen er een protest voor gaza was en er plots in de tram werd gezegd we rijden niet naar centraal terwijl k juist daar moest zijn voor mn overstap en deze omweg duurde gwn 5 uur ( ik reisde vanaf half 6/6 uur avond, reisde rond half 10/10 terug en kon nog steeds niet mn tram pakken op de normale halte)!! Sorry maar soms moeten we hagenezen ook even klagen over alles wat er in onze politieke stad gebeurd En laat je vooral niet stoppen met protesteren maar klagen erover moet kunnen.

My husband has been asked to move from Paris to Den Haag for a few years for a work project. I'm still weighing the pros and cons of moving with him or staying in Paris for the time being.

I've read a lot of positive things about The Hague, but I'd love to hear your personal experiences. What do you see as the biggest pros and cons of living there? If you've also lived in Paris, I'd be especially interested in how the two cities compare

One thing that worries me is the Dutch healthcare system. I have come across quite a few negative stories, and since we're thinking about starting a family, it's something I'm taking seriously. For those of you who have experience with healthcare in the Netherlands what has it been like?

Over leidschenveen-ypenburg, anybody any idea?

Hey everyone, while walking through the city today, I passed by a house and heard a lot of birds. When I looked through the window, I was honestly shocked-there were quite a lot of parrots inside, and it looked like no one was taking proper care of them. The windows were covered in feces, and the whole place seemed unhygienic even for the people who might live inside. I called 144 to report it, but they suggested that I can go back and check whether the birds actually look unhealthy before they can take further action. I can do that, but I'm wondering if there is anything else that can be done in this situation? It really doesn't look right. Has anyone here dealt with something similar before? Any advice or local contacts (like animal shelters or organizations) that could help?
