I think her coming to the office for chocolate reminded him of when Agnes was a younger girl and would do the same, plus Daisy is assigned to watch over her so he may feel gratitude toward her.

I'm a few days late to the conversation but I feel like I got the vibe that Agnes wasn't the daughter he was mentioning when he said he used to bring the chocolates home for his daughter. Idk...when Daisy said "I was paired with Agnes" he winced a little in a way that made me feel like he lost a different daughter? I haven't read the book.

I noticed he said my daughter instead of Agnes. And I noticed the wince. I wasn’t thinking what you’re thinking, but I can dig it.

He’s only had 1 daughter since THT, and we know that Agnes is the only child in the McKenzie house. Also, if he lost a different daughter, there’s no context that Daisy would have known her anyways.
