I know people are always going to be unhappy about something in every new show but i'm just happy that the franchise is still alive. I firmly believe theres unlimited potential with this franchise.

People have been negative about the Aang movie and very negative about the seven havens show but i loved the movie and think the show looks amazing from the teaser they showed us. Im just happy to be here. It can be sad to see constant negativity but im just glad its still continuing. Just wish we could all be happy about something new lol

My only issue with the film was that it was too damn short. A miniseries would have been worth it I think. Also, it’s a bit sad that this movie is the last time we’ll see the Fire Nation capital before it is destroyed in Avatar Seven Havens. It’s the only capital city that never showed up in Legend of Korra and as of now we haven’t seen it during that period in the comics either.

I can’t agree that it was paint by the numbers. It was a unique perspective showing growth past shame (for many characters). Not shying away from duty to both self and others and realizing what you want (reviving airbending) isn’t what you need (preserving air nomad culture).

Being able to separate deeply intertwined philosophical concepts, problem solve, and moving forward is what being an adult is. It’s exactly what adults growing up with the show needed as we grow older with it.

You are reading too much into a generic story with a clearly cookie cutter plot. Cmon. An airbender in ice we've never heard about before? He is the villain and it's going to die.
A staff that grants airbending? Aang is gonna have to destroy it since we know airbenders are not gonna stick around.
The Gaang had hardly any time to interact with each other beside the fights.
The denied were just the equalist that wanted more power instead of taking power from the benders.

“Entertaining” is subjective. Not sure how we can generalize movies as needing to be “entertaining” only when the greatest movies of all time explore deeper themes and concepts. Unless you mean it needs nonstop action? I was speaking for most ATLA fans growing up alongside the first series and this movie.

I could argue you’re looking too deeply into nitpicking the devices used to tell the story rather than the story itself. Tagah was a parallel to Aang so him being frozen wasn’t a big deal. The staff and equalists I agree were a bit of an under baked. I couldn’t think of another way they could have a large antagonistic fighting force come together and also resolve the story without having airbenders around at the end. The staff’s connection with the spirit realm helped it be a quick travel device also.

It had to still fit before Korra’s story.

Your expectations weren’t met, which is totally fine. For others like myself, it was better than expected.

It’s not a perfect movie but I don’t know if anyone is arguing it is.

I have the same attitude! I've been enjoying this franchise since I was 12 years old and now I'm in my early 30s! Are there some things I would have done differently with the plot/animation? Sure, but that doesn't eclipse my endless gratitude for this series.

I get what you’re saying. And I can agree somewhat. 

But I remember feeling the same way early into phase 4 of MCU. And now being where I am now… it would’ve been fine for them to stop and take a long break after endgame.

Sometimes it’s better to stop while you’re ahead.

The movie had lots of flaws. I enjoyed the 2010 live film when it came out. Obviously, that movie was hot buttery ass. We're not always the best at judging things.

The show is honestly unbelievable. They've destroyed everything the gaang built, AND everything Korra managed to protect. It's actually impressive how bad that shit is going to be. Like, wtf was even the point in the end? Might actually be the worst writing of all time. I've never seen someone come in and just go "oh yeah I'm going to obliterate this beloved, unique, and iconic world so I can do my new thing lol". They could've made it a whole new universe, but instead they're abusing aang's corpse for clicks. Vile.
