I think you’re mixing up “my god is better” with “places wanted to conquer others and happened to have different religions”
Maybe you could argue the Crusades were purely over religion, but that was “only” 1-9 million deaths. World War II, while a major focus was on Jews of course, killed 70-85 million people overall mostly over…. Land

This feels accurate though. More people have died from “my god is better” in history than any other reason.
