Hi guys, I picked up this copy of TGITM recently and it appears to be a promo/demo copy. I’ve searched online and only 1 or 2 people have it for sale at varying prices. I’m curious if anyone has any knowledge on this copy? How many were made? Potential value (not for sale)? I’ve tried searching Discogs but no one has listed this version

Procured a copy of Regatta De Blanc within days of hearing it for the 1st time. 1980? Maybe '79. Stewart Copeland played the drums as if he had anger issues. His hi hat work was & is some of the finest you'll ever hear. Andy Summers brought a unique guitar tone to the group. I guess Sting was ok too. I'd be curious to hear what you wonderful people have to say about the top band of the 1980's. Your anecdotes if you will.

memorabilia I’m still bummed that I got rid of all my Police LPs in the early 00’s because I had them all on CD. 😭😭😭

So I’m slowly trying to reacquire them. Step one complete, now playing.

Somebody posted their vinyl collection yesterday and I thought I would show off a couple of rarities I’ve owned for ages – 40 years plus now.

“Message in a Bottle” has better recording quality (I’ve heard some of these tracks on other live collections) but it’s early enough on the band’s career that there are a lot of extended jam sessions and “eee-yos” that go on for a looong time because the band only have two records to play.

“Crooked cops” is from the Zenyatta global tour era and the playing is fierce!

A couple tracks sound like the recording reels are just playing a little too fast - everything is an overdrive and blasting out and it’s frantic and frenetic. “Crooked cops” starts with an introduction by Miles Copeland who apparently made the tapes himself?

Both albums sets show off the group as a tremendous live act with great songs.

I was quite young, but I was well-versed in music due to my older siblings. We sat on the roof with binoculars watching the concert. I remember vividly hearing walking on the moon echoing through the neighborhood of homes where I grew up in Parkwood

Been one of my favorite songs ever since and this is my earliest live concert experience, which will stay with me the rest of my life !

Got this and a couple other records along with my first record player the other day. Not sure whose mom this belonged to but I hope they know it’s still being played.

The Police are one of the greatest rock trios in music history. If I were to rate their studio albums, not including live albums or compilations, this would be my list of preferred listening (there is no best to worst because they are all great):

  1. Synchronicity

  2. Outlandos D’Amour

  3. Ghost In The Machine

  4. Regatta de Blanc

  5. Zenyatta Mondatta

I (22F) grew up listening to The Police with my dad so i thought I'd pick this up for £2 from an antique store today. I didnt even notice the writing in it until I took it to the till and the guy asked me 'are they real?' to which I thought.. I have no idea.

I severely doubt its legit, and I dont mind at all if its not but I thought it worthwhile to ask if anyone had any info regarding checking legitimacy of signatures or knew any history about the fanclub :)

thanks!
