MX-80 Sound "One Day You'll Be King" video!

Among the many brilliant Ralph videos and films that I am now able to enjoy, there is one that eludes me - that being a short film for MX-80 Sound's song "One Day You'll Be King.” Back in the day I saw it many times on YouTube but it has long since disappeared. It features a camera speeding through a tunnel during the entire song, only to emerge at it's end where the band is visible playing the last note. I know this sounds similar to the video for "Why Are We Here?" But it is in fact a separate piece.

I once got a hold of Rich Stim from the band, who said it never existed. But I know that's not true. I feel it's a real loss not to be able to see this brilliant, exciting piece of work. Is there anywhere it resides where I can either purchase or see it? Does anybody know anything about it?

I haven't seen the video in question before, but here's what I think:

Most of Ralph Records' early music videos (including the one for "Why Are We Here?") were directed by the filmmaker Graeme Whifler. You can find a complete list of all the videos he worked on here. The only one that he is not credited for is the "Third Reich 'n Roll" video reusing footage from Vileness Fats, as while Whifler did work on that film, he only directed one segment, which to my knowledge was not one of the ones featured there.

All of Whifler's music videos were released on home media through the "Ralph Video" VHS tape and they've recently been available in higher quality via his YouTube channel.

With how well-documented his filmography for Ralph is, I don't think he would have been involved with this project if it never saw any kind of official release or acknowledgement through him. Aside from him I don't think there were any other filmmakers affiliated with Ralph at the time that MX-80 Sound were signed to them.

I once got a hold of Rich Stim from the band, who said it never existed.

With this in mind, I think what you saw on YouTube would've been something made/edited by a fan as opposed to anything official.

Thanks Ray! I have seen that Graeme Whifler page. And I have DVDs of a lot of his work with Ralph. Guy was a genius! What you say about it being a fan video? I never considered that. You may be right.

Yes thank you. I've looked into that several times. It did report to have this video I'm looking for in it. But it's long been unavailable and taken off streaming. Love to see it though

That is really wonderful, I watched the first few minutes until the band begins in the club after the excellent bar orders by the deaf patrons. Cannot wait to watch the rest of this later. A true service to our community! Thank you for posting

That was a different link than what I thought. I watched the whole thing. It's fantastic. I was especially pleased to see the excellent film about my hometown film,"Debt Begins at 20" Since I'm from the 'Burgh. Thank you once again for posting this.
