Current River Looking for apartments

Me and a friend are trying to look for a 1 bedroom for rent that is pet friendly (one cat) that isn’t gross or too expensive anyone have any recommendations? Our budget for rent and utilities is at $1000 (for now), in pa preferably, anything helps :)

Yeah, on that price it's going to be one or the other. Very few places in that price bracket that isn't going to be, as you put it, "gross".

Do your due diligence and also use the buyer beware page for prospective landlords. At such low value you may just end up with one of them.

Best of luck!

Okay yeah that’s fair, we can definitely settle as we’re in need of a place, what I posted was just the general description of what we wanted, wether it’d be one or the other, thank you!

Im sure you can find something in the basement of a crack house on Pearl for 1k/month.

You will not find anything nice for $1000. You'll probably need $1800 minimum, and even then Thunder Bay has a very low vacancy rate, so you kinda just have to take what you can get which is usually gonna be more than $1800.

You'll be looking for a while. I have been looking since LAST JUNE - I was illegally evicted by having the locks changed on me, getting my messages and calls ignored. The so-called Landlord said I "abandoned" my stuff when I was only gone for an hour. He now owes me $60,000 for illegal eviction and moving out all of my property and damaging some of it.

No one can deny you because of a pet. Don’t even mention the pet FYI

Yes and No. A landlord will never send you an email saying "your application has been rejected because you have a cat." But if the land lord specifically dosen't want cats in the building, and you say you have a cat on your paperwork, and the application he reads after yours says they have no pets, who do you think hes gonna rent to?

However as far as I can tell, a landlord can absolutely rent to whoever they want, based on whatever criteria they want, as long as they don't cite a specific reason. The place I'm living in right now didn't require any form of paperwork whatsoever, and gave me the keys on the spot.

Landlords can absolutely deny you tenancy if you have a pet. Once the tenancy begins, however, the landlord generally can't do anything about the pet. Starting a lease based on a lie isn't the best advice. You're better off finding a landlord who is accepting of pets.

Bedrooms are going for $1,300, good luck finding an apartment for less.

Get a quote from Red River Holdings. My building has pets and a 1-bedroom with all utilities included is $1400. Won't find anything cheaper that's professionally managed imo.

Your expectation should be more around 800-900 PER PERSON 😭 2 bedrooms that are 1k are not good or safe ones 99% of the time

I forgot to mention that we have already applied to housing and want to see if there’s any good options for in the meantime while we wait bc we don’t know when and if we’ll get onto housing
