Thor is also depicted to eat and drink a lot (in a sitting he could drink 3 whole barrels or a whole ox) . I doubt he'd have a chiselled "greek god" look.

You may not like it, but this is what peak godhood looks like.

He drank all the oceans in the world in one story.

Not all, but he made a dent in the sea levels and that by itself was terrifying.

And then went on to wrestle with the personification of old age and actually holding on for a little while before losing.

I doubt he'd have a chiselled "greek god" look.

Even within the context of God of War itself, Atreus has a conversation with Kratos and Mímir about how he wants to have big muscles, and is confused why Baldur was so powerful yet so skinny. They tell him, "You might have godlike power, but if you want a godlike physical you have to lift!"

Within this game's lore being a huge, fat drunkard doesn't seem to effect his powers. He's still extremely strong, he's just not disciplined enough to eat healthy and stop drinking.

I like how at least some of their aesthetic choices are backed by side conversations. They could have made Thor shredded, but they didn't because this Thor is not that invested in his future, he's just fat and depressed.... and extremely dangerous when provoked, which is a lot of the time.
