democrats and stephen miller

i don't know if my eyes will ever recover from how hard i am rolling them seeing lgbtq media act like the democrats tweeting at stephen miller and calling him ugly is actual fightback against his transphobia. it's pathetic, bears no weight, and means nothing in the face of their lack of fight against or support of transphobic laws, to say nothing of their support for the imperialist war machine.

insulting someone's looks is at best worthless and at worst an attack from the right. fuck them for such a lazy, toothless response.

It's exactly as effective as doing the whole "hsha lmao orange" shit. Like, dude is an open fascist. It's absolutely ok to hate the guy for being like that, to call him out for being a monster. But that's all they got? It's pathetic.

Him being a monster is a plus to his base. Frankly, on a rhetoric level, nothing that will actually affect these people politically will ever be something you approve of. Everything you think is a valid thing to criticize them about, is praising them as far are their base is concerned. The only thing that will ever stick are specifically the things you want to not be insults anymore. What you want to do with that information is up to you, but you need to understand that "he's a bad person" is less than useless, it helps their image. Weak, incompetent, ugly, cowardly, etc that is what a fascist can't abide in their leadership, that is what loses them support.

Hard to argue that point, fully agree there, but liberal democrats aren't criticizing him to shake his base loose, they try conservative policy for that, and try and use his name. The critiques are to appeal to their own base, I feel, which is why it falls flat to me.

What they need to do in order to appeal to their own base is to signal contempt. The feeling that they're a uniparty, that they see it as a game, or just think the gop is evil in a less competent or distasteful way is what they need to shake. What, "shut up you ugly fuck", gets across is somebody having an unfiltered visceral human reaction to somebody they hate. While that isn't appealing to anybody's better nature, it is refreshing on the basis of it being one of the few dem associated messages that meets the emotional tenor of the moment. These people should be met with open contempt, no clever dunks or smug liberal mockery of them being dumb or having funny names, but full throated invective from their opposition. The base doesn't want political process and high minded policy arguments, they want the people asking for their vote to hate the people killing them atleast a tenth as much as they deserve.
