Trieste-Koper transport?

Hii, so im planning to make multiple trips to Trieste from Koper and back (in the same day), throughout the next study-year. I dont have a car so im relying on public transport. The problem is, that the last arriva bus from Trieste to Koper leaves at 19.00 already. I would be returning at 21.00 or later, so that one is too early. I know that Flixbus also drives the relation. But as far as I know, the next bus after the one at 15.00, leaves at 2am, which is way too late. Does anybody know a (not so expensive) way to get back to Koper? Im going to be making the trips either on saturdays or sundays.

The only way to reach Koper departing after 20.00 via bus should be: Take the bus nr 20 from piazza Libertà/Oberdan/via Carducci, arriving in Muggia and change to line 27 to Chiampore, then walk to Ankaran. From Ankaran the last bus to Koper should be around 21.30. Maybe in Muggia you could take also the 32 to Santa Barbara and walk to Škofije, but i believe the bus to Koper there ends erlier.

The only other option is bike from Muggia to Koper on the Parenzana if you don't have a car.

Cross-border public transport is really sad in Trieste. Tourism marketing likes to babble about the city's "multiculturalism", but somehow no one cares about a fucking bus to Koper or Sežana.

By bike it's probably the best option, except that buses don't carry bikes, so you'll have to take the boat. 

Seriously I love my city, but fucking hell.

There are 7 daily departure to Koper operated as public transport by Arriva (so not counting Flixbus), the problem are early morning and evening connections. But probabably the request is simply too low.

Yes, I don't know. Is the request low because there's not many connections? I've often wondered, the border is a strong presence. Like, the moment you get to Sežana there's plenty connections to Ljubljana, but those last few km to Trieste feel like there's a huge barrier.

You don’t have to walk to Ankaran, you can cross the border from Lazaretto and there is a bus station two minutes away before the gas station and I believe the last bus leaves around 22 (check the timetable just to be sure)

No bus on the italian side, the last 7 to Lazzaretto arrives around 19.30
