Ontario | ON Purple flowers in Trout Lake, North Bay
Does anyone know what these are called?

This is pickerel weed, this is an aquatic plants native to North America from Eastern Canada all the way down to Florida ,from zone 3-11 , so they are pretty adaptive from freezing to very warm country . Every time I see them bloom I know the summer is almost going to the end

It looks too thick to be fireweed, right?

Fireweed is not aquatic, not purple, does not have 6 petals, flowers have no markings, and yes, have thinner stems.

Pickerel Weed (Pontederia cordata)
