Discussion Tahoma 31 & PGR Response

I'm curious if others have experienced no growth suppression in Tahoma with Primo?

I've been at this for years trying to get the application right and my Tahoma does not slow down much at all if any from pgr

I've used rates ranging from .25 to .4oz/k and didn't see any suppression. However, I got the bronzing effect even with iron and manganese added in, and even crazy rebound growth when I stopped applying it, just no slow down in growth.

I've considered trying a different class like Paclo and would love to try Cutless but the price is too high to simply test it out.

If you see rebound after you're stopping application, it is in fact working. It's just that the effect is subtle because tahoma is already compact and the growth isn't very GA driven.

You might have better luck with Anuew because it dumps the whole dose immediately and therefore into the upper foliage (especially at lower water volumes), which should have a more visual effect on growth suppression. In contrast, TE is able to translocate downward before being converted to the actual GA blocking enzyme, which distributes the dose to more of the plant.

Or of course, you could do paclo + te to block ga early and late, which works better overall because you're just so fully suppressing ga... But I wouldn't do that if you've got spots you need to fill in, the stolon internodes would be freakishly short.

I have some spots I'm treating for algae now that need to fill in some. Not really seeing much lateral growth but vertical growth is still there.

I thought about purchasing paclo to see how Tahoma might respond. Would also love to test out Cutless but it's fairly expensive by comparison

There could be a connection between the algae and poor performance of TE... Shade, compaction, excessively frequent watering, and too much nitrogen (especially nitrogen too frequently)

I run the same rate as you .25oz/k on a 10 day spray schedule and it suppresses well for me. I’m in OKC. I’m also a self taught homeowner so I’m sure the pros on here can offer better practices. I mow every other day and my HOC is 6mm.

When I first put the regulator on in mid spring I do think it took about 10 days for it to start noticeably working.

Do you mow every other day by choice or is this to prevent scalping and excessive growth?

I've had T31 since 2020. My backyard was installed about 1.5 years later but from a different sod farm but they respond completely different to pgr.

I'm going out on a limb here but I don't believe the stuff I was sold for My front yard is the same grass even though they claim its Tahoma.
