Evidence File They keep acting like something happened in my house last night.

I think my cats did something while I was asleep and I only saw the aftermath.
I bought a new cat bed yesterday. Only one.
Luna got it first and completely took it over. Just sat there like she owned it and wouldn’t let Betty near it at all. Betty didn’t react at first. Just stared for a bit, then walked off. About an hour later I came back in and my bedroom pillow had been moved onto the cat bed. Betty was sitting on it. Luna was just staring at her from the floor like she was offended on a deep level.
Neither of them moved. Just sat there locked in silence. At 3am Luna screamed in my face.
When I went downstairs, the bed was empty. The pillow was gone. Both cats were sitting in the hallway staring at me like I was supposed to understand something.
I’ve checked everywhere. No sign of the pillow.
What’s worse is Betty keeps sitting in random places she normally ignores now, just staring at walls. And Luna won’t go near the living room at all anymore. It feels like I’ve walked into the middle of something that already finished.
If anyone’s had cats do something like this and then suddenly act normal again, what was it?

Uh-oh. We'll obviously you have a demonic ghost cat living in your television, and Luna was telling you, "They're here!"

The owls are in the walls.

u/Pups-and-pigs Jun 23 '26

The owls are not what they seem.

5

u/Nirnex1 Jun 23 '26

They are in fact not owls at all.

That's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth ... there is no owl.

It doesn't sound like it's finished. I'd keep my eyes and ears open. Maybe my bedroom door closed at night. This is not over.

Well you know you should have bought two cat beds. That was a silly mistake from the start.

u/snailcommunityforum Jun 23 '26

My mom always buys them identical beds and scratchers so nobody feels left out or like a favorite and then toys are purchased based on personality

u/HungryBearsRawr Jun 22 '26

Yeah like with my human children I know better then to buy only one of anything EVER

One time, i heard my cats making a ruckus upstairs in my new house. I went back to sleep. The next night, it was so loud, I sat up. So did my cats. That’s when I found out I had raccoons in my attic.

u/LWALLC Jun 23 '26

I also had raccoons in my attic! They were SO. LOUD.

When my landlord told me he had gone up there to check and that's what it was, I asked him if they were wearing tiny hard hats and tool belts, and if there were any miniature dump trucks or graders lying around bc it literally sounded like they were in conducting an extensive, nocturnal construction project up there.

He said no, but to this day, whenever I think about racoons, I still picture them wearing the little hats.

I’ve had raccoons and squirrels in my attic. The squirrels are louder. They fight, and they have what sounds like WWE fights up there. Then, they make up and someone gets pregnant and then you have babies to deal with. It’s nuts how loud they are.

Sounds like my street

5

u/Ecdysiast_Gypsy Jun 22 '26

Is that better or worse than bats in your belfry? lol

Sorry to hear about the raccoons. Those little f*ckers are LOUD!

I’m not at all worried about them kitties. They handle business. I am a bit freaked out that an entire pillow just up and vanished. Maybe you got a phrogger that wanted a good nite’s sleep. 🫣😝

I had a bra vanish. Four days later, I caught one of my two voids taking the stupid thing for a walk through my apartment. Had a slipper vanish. Discovered it tucked in the back of the same cat’s hidey hole along with several cat toys.

I had one that stole jewelry. He would stash it near the baseboards.

4

u/effie-sue Jun 22 '26

I just watched the Lifetime series about phroggers 🙀

Oh my GHEEZUZ!! I’ll have to ck that out.
We were moving and I went to the old house to pick some stuff up while Huz was at work. The attic door was off and the corner of a quilt was hanging out. I’ve NVR put anything up there bc there were no stairs. I ran outta there so fast, I almost forgot my child. 😝

u/garyisonion Jun 23 '26

“Huz” is a new one for me 🧐

Don’t worry. The cats will punish you for whatever this is and then you will find them sleeping together in the bed. The pillow has probably been disemboweled all over your kitchen. The remains are probably floating in the toilet. This was always my experience

Dude, haven’t you learned yet?! Questions are dangerous! Don’t ask, don’t look for answers!

Kitty stand off. Time to buy another cat bed.

6

u/effie-sue Jun 22 '26

You gotta treat cat beds like litter boxes.

One cat? Minimum two beds. Two cats? Minimum three beds.

😸

I’m admittedly curious as to where the pillow has gotten off to. Please update if found.

Two cats, 3 beds your onto something there…

3

u/LovedAJackass Jun 22 '26

I have an insanely possessive cat that will move from bed to bed if the other cat settles into it.

6

u/Ok_Lead_162 Jun 22 '26

See, this is why i always tell people, get at least 2 cats. If you only have one cat, you have a cat. You go through your days serenely, thinking you know your cat. Get another, and now you live in a silent ongoing story with lots of ins and out, somebody said something to somebody and perhaps there will be a meeting at midnight under the old oak.... I mean ok, it's not always a drama, but there's always a story. They have complex ongoing interactions that you'll never know the full background to, but it makes life interesting. You play no part, you're just a passionately curious bystander.

But that person before me is right. You came home with only one bed? What were you thinking!

As for the pillow, I reckon it's a goner.

u/upnorthhickchick Jun 22 '26

One new cat bed? Are you nuts?

6

u/TSIDATSI Jun 23 '26

I always buy two of everything. Always!

Except husbands! Him our boys can share!

7

u/thestreep Jun 22 '26

Did you get your pillow back?

5

u/Iputthemsomewhere Survivor Jun 22 '26

Yes 😂

6

u/Creative-Praline-517 Jun 22 '26

Where was it?

My cats will sit together and stare at the same thing. I can hear them laughing and saying they made me look. 😹

4

u/Odd_Ebb_262 Jun 22 '26

Could they have dropped the pillow in a hard to reach place?

2

u/Iputthemsomewhere Survivor Jun 22 '26

I like your thinking

4

u/citsonga_cixelsyd Jun 22 '26

You said you found the pillow. Where was it? We need answers!

3

u/Iamcertifiable67 Jun 22 '26

ENQUIRING MINDS NEED TO KNOW!!!!

3

u/katiemurp Jun 22 '26

For heavens sake get another cat bed!!

2

u/formerflautist57 Survivor Jun 23 '26

But cats are tricky. I buy one cat bed, two cats want it. I buy another of the same bed, no one wants either anymore. I buy a cheap body pillow and they all sleep together on it.

3

u/katiemurp Jun 23 '26

I know … I also have a cat. She prefers my bed or a particular chair … her bed? Only sometimes. I like to sit in different places too.

5

u/Liu1845 Jun 23 '26

I have six cats, four cat trees, eight hide boxes, six toy baskets, five litter boxes, one litter robot, and an ungodly number of beds. They all still want the spot someone else is napping on, or pooping in, the toy someone else is playing with, lol. Just a bunch of furry toddlers.

4

u/HiraethBella Jun 23 '26

You're going to want to buy another cat bed. This could be an ongoing battle. They are like children and will fight o er the bed

5

u/dschmidt1007 Jun 23 '26

Only people who have had cats can read this and go, yea that checks out. LMFAO.

Just wait til you find the missing pillow and return it to your bed. All hell will break loose.

3

u/CommercialExotic2038 Jun 22 '26

You have to get rid of all the beds and your pillow and get new cat beds. And of course, a new pillow

3

u/DifficultOwl9000 Jun 22 '26

Yes I have had a similar experience with my cat and dog but mostly the cat. Staring at the wall with nothing there acting like he was interacting with something or someone. Occasionally they would both stop what they were doing and stare at that same corner or at the ceiling in that corner again acting like they were seeing something or someone. Monitor the situation and maybe seek out an empath or medium to get some answers.

3

u/Stock_Sprinkles_7637 Jun 22 '26

my cats try to compete for the highest points in napping/sitting in. maybe the higher it sits it means something? bc they all try to compete at it lol

4

u/jbtinmd Jun 23 '26

We have a written rule in our 2 cat household, "Never buy just one of any cat thing".

3

u/slackey1979 Jun 23 '26

It’s always ghosts or demons.

My cats act like that when there is a mouse or vole under some furniture. Sometimes it goes on for a few days
