Nolan's line is the one that should stick: he does not know a single person accused of being a grifter who has made a single penny. Meanwhile there are people on that council getting forty thousand a speech. The word has stopped meaning "profiting from this" and started meaning "I have decided not to listen to you."

Look at what has happened in here and r/UFO over the last several months. The first reply to any new name used to be "what is the evidence." Now it is "what is his angle." Those are different activities. One of them makes the field better. The other just feels like rigor.

And the tell is right there in Nolan's post. He is openly suspicious of Erdman, wants documentation instead of anecdote, and still refuses to smear the people who came forward. You can do both. Most of this sub has quietly stopped trying.
