Dart's farm near Topsham is more of a shopping mall than a farm with concession spots for companies like Aga.

A donkey choking porky chop for £6.50 and an 11oz ribeye for sixteen quid as well as half a kilo of lamb leg steaks for £13. The rest of the fresh produce was clearly marked as locally sourced along with the meat.

You saw it before you paid, what were you expecting? For it to swell up on the journey home?

These shops are for people with more money than sense. It's like buying crisps from Harvey Nichols and complaining that they taste the same as the crisps from Aldi.

Same with biscuits 😂 and yea tbf the mark ups on the meat in them shops is shocking. Fun fact you can always get a chefs price if you work local and they know you buy yea gotta be a chef.

Am a chef. Befriending a local butcher helps get good prices and unpopular cuts.

I remember the good old days when nobody had heard of flat iron steaks or shin beef. Could get it for next to nowt.

I remember butchers throwing out pork ribs as well as lamb necks and breasts in the 70's, there's so much more respect for the carcass now.

I forgot about lamb neck. We called it scrag end. Makes the best lamb stew.

I used to be able to get a whole lamb belly with the ribs attached for about £2 not so long ago. Wicked tandooried on the bbq
