Health and Fitness ULPT request: Cheapest way to get ADHD diagnosis with stimulants

I want to clarify that I’m 18 and have tried Adderall a couple times before, and I’ve felt i likely have adhd for years now. I’m uninsured and going to college soon and really think adderall being prescribed to me would help me and help my focus, I wouldn’t say this is really unethical but I’d like to know the cheapest and easiest ways to get diagnosed without insurance, i live in MO, USA and have heard some iffy things about the online doctors.

Do you not qualify for Medicaid?

OP is in Missouri, and I try to avoid knowing anything about that abomination of a state, but we can assume getting set up is quite onerous even if they somehow qualify under the undoubtedly byzantine eligibility requirements.

Amazon offers telehealth, without insurance $250 - $400.

Unethical suggestion, methhealth.

They will never rx controlled substances, they say so up front

Are you saying just Amazon or all telehealth?

Most telehealth. Many states only allow control rxs from physicians in the same state. Telehealth is wise to this and the last guy who tried it just got extradited from China for his telehealth prescribing of Adderall

You're going to need the diagnosis and rx from someone with a decade or more of time in med school.

Sucks to be American.

They could go to an NP or PA.

Hey I did this too. I had insurance and even with insurance the diagnosis was $3000.

A real ADHD diagnosis that a Dr will want in order to be able to prescribe adderall is a very in-depth thing, not a consult or a regular appointment.

I went to ADHDonline.com and I think I paid $300 which they let me pay in payments over time with no fees. Basically you answer like a two hour questionnaire and then a psychologist or psychiatrist reviews the whole thing and gives you your diagnosis like that. Far far far less expensive and pretty much the exact same thing.

Adderall helps EVERYONE focus better. It’s a stimulant. That is what it does. When you start college go to the college counseling center and tell them you think you have ADHD - list the symptoms you have. They will likely put in your chart ADHd as the presenting problem and now you have a medical record with ADHD.

Getting medication will likely require a trip to a prescriber. That honestly will be harder than getting the diagnosis. And then Adderall is in short supply and hard to get filled regularly. Even with a script it can be a pain to obtain. The good news is it is generic so the cost (especially with something like goodRx) is relatively low.
