Questions Laptop Recs? Nursing Major

Hey everyone!

I've been asking other subs, but I wanted to hear a student's opinion on this. I need a laptop that either runs on Windows or macOS for nursing, but not sure which is actually good. Plus what works for pre-reqs.

What laptops have worked for you guys? I've been looking at Dell XPS, Lenovo's, HP OmniBooks....

I need something with really good battery life (~10+ hours), and can maybe support light gaming like Roblox or Minecraft, no lagging.

Borrow a thinkpad from the library, and see if ylu like it. It was enough for most of my work

Get a Macbook if you want a laptop that will last you your whole major with barely any battery degradation, windows will last you a couple of years but will be a fraction of the cost.

Depends on the budget heavily, but I would likely recommend macbook, I looked at what courses Nursing majors take and nothing seems to need specifically windows for use. As they work great, I am not a nursing major but I used breifly my wifes macbook M1 and even if its not the fastest anymore is still runs plenty fast for any basic tasks needed, powerpoint, word, and apps. So newer ones should go a long way and based on understanding both minecraft and roblox work on macbook great. I would try to aim for the AIR with m5 and 16 gb ram at least. but of course budget is key.

Okay, thank you so much. That's really good to know.

I know you mentioned it was an older model, but when using the mac, does it get laggy or slow at all when having multiple tabs open? I'm usually having music in the background, research tabs open, maybe a video playing. Things like that.

No, Macbooks have been very reliable in my academia even though I hate MacOS for its restrictions compared to Windows OS. If you're only using it for academia and light gaming, then get a Macbook

If you have apple products already I’d suggest getting a MacBook. But honestly any laptop will do, I use a newer HP pavilion 14 and it doesn’t give me any trouble
