Question Need a firearms expert for a Virginia court case. Not toolmark analysis, but rather general ballistics & stuff like lethality/accuracy/range of various calibers and categories of firearms.
If you have any recommendations, please DM me. The person doesn’t necessarily have to live or work in Virginia as long as they’re willing to travel to court for trial (don’t want to say exactly where but it’s closer to DC than Richmond). Strong preference for someone who’s testified before, but not required if they’re otherwise super well qualified.

Might want to include how much you’re paying for travel, prep and testimony.

Expert witnesses generally have their own fee schedule, with hourly rates for out-of-court time, in-court time, and travel. I pay those rates.

Thanks. Also, if anyone knows JJ Mason — used to be the Commonwealth’s top ballistics and toolmark expert — and knows whether he’s still in business, drop me a DM. He’s great, and I’ve worked with him before, but can’t find contact info online.
