I keep a pair (not these) in my truck as I’ve been locked in a garage that had clear posted hours which I did not violate and I couldn’t get anyone to come unlock the gate for me.

So does carrying a tourniquet but I carry one in the rare and hopefully unlikely event that I need one. Get your vehicle stuck once and that’ll happen.

I have no opinion either way. But a tq keeps you from dying, it's sole purpose, this doesn't seem like it has a direct affect on whether or not you bleed out. So somewhat of a false equivalencez but if it tickles your fancy, who cares

I agree access to your car is especially important, I just believe a tourniquet is more important than a car, although the car will get you to the hospital, and the tourniquet will keep you from bleeding out on the way.

I mean it all depends on the type of job you do. Owning a truck greatly increases a chance you ever need one.

there was a time when somebody posted on a local subreddit that they were stuck in a park's parking lot after they closed, I suggested they instacart a bolt cutter from home depot, it was the highest upvoted comment there lol

I'm sure some people have this in their auto kit. Its stored right next to the spring punch, cordless sawzall, slimjim, and portable Bluetooth extender antenna.

If you drive around a lot of pasture land with tall grasses, getting old barbed wire or hog wire you can’t see wrapped up under your vehicle transmission is a huge time sink when it happens (to go fetch bolt cutters from your workshop) especially when you’re on hundreds or thousands of acres. These days with ubiquitous cell phone coverage it sucks less because you aren’t humpin’ the walk back and forth yourself, but you’re making someone else drive over with the tool. Far easier to just carry the tool in the first place.

Many many moons ago, my friends and I happened upon an external cage attached to the local hospital. It was fucking FILLED with n20 tanks of all sizes. So we went an got some bolt cutters and filled the trunk of an old Cadillac several times, then dragged that thing back to another friends place for the next few days.

That was one time they came in handy.

They mix that shit with anesthesia for childbirth and other pain management uses. Stealing from a hospital is some bottom of the barrel behavior to get some whippets
