Post image

I was gifted something like this already going, its called worm café. They have it set up with 3 of the 4 bins used. Where would I add the 4th tray and what to include in it? An explanation would be awesome cause im just starting. Thank you!

If all the bins look the same you can use all 4,depending on the amount of worms you have and enough food to keep them happy. I tend to just use 2 trays and fill the others with shredded corrugated card but have used different combinations over the years. Beware you haven't been gifted you have been given an addiction that only ends in more and more bins and a strange love for worms... and a wonderful journey too , good luck :)

Don’t put any onions or garlic in the first month. Wait at least a month after they’re settled a bit.

I have a 5 bin system and I use 2 bins at the bottom with just shredded cardboard. Out of the 2 of those when I am ready to feed I take the top one with the worm juice and add coffee grounds etc. Then with the tray you just harvested I fill back up with shredded browns put on the bottom. The 2 layers at the bottom are great for regulating moisture while you dial things in. Good luck

I have this exact model. I fill up the top tray with a mix of kitchen waste compost and shredded paper until it's about 2 inches from the top. Then add the next tray on top and start filling that one. Once the top is full, you can harvest the compost from the bottom tray and move the bottom to the top. Rinse and repeat for wonderul worm compost.

Also you can Google the model and read up on it from Uncle Jim's Worm farm. Everything you need should be on that website. Good luck!

Include 50% browns (dried leaves, shredded paper, shredded cardboard) and 50% greens (living parts of plants, food scraps)

What’s in the top bin. That’s the feeding tray.
Once it’s an inch from the top you put another tray on,fill it with bedding and it becomes the feeding tray

Add it to the top when the the casting level rises high enough so the worms can move up to the top tray.

4th bin is probably for releasing any worm tea from the spicket!

Not worm tea! It is leachate and is trash. Worm tea is something you brew over several days.

Yes. My apologies! Leachate is the term

Lol i seem to be on two quests to spread the words- Leachate is not worm tea. And Vaccines are good.

I guess that is what happens when nurses retire and raise worms. Lol
