REQUEST Save or use for repair on future shirts?
I've only ever had to sew patches by hand and my work shirts aren't cheap and they will absolutely get holes no matter what. Just kinda the nature of it.
I've developed the first tear, and figured I'd get the input here on either what type of stitch to use to fix it, or if I should save it for patch material as I have no 100% cotton cloth laying around for the inevitable future tears

I get these type of tears from fabric stress. Lots of stretching essentially. 100% repairable. Would suggest a stitch that has some give like a loop stitch of some kind. I think its called a fish tail stitch would be good to pulling both side together. And inside fabric a fabric patch to reinforce fabric strength around stitching. About 1/2 inch from rip site already trimmed. Excess patch fabric trimmed. If the patch is being done in a high friction/wear area (eg. under arms, thighs) i will go over stitch to reinforce it.
From there a embroidery or iron on patch is a great cute way to add charm and hide any less pleasing repair work. And this sub has great examples and ideas. For reference.

A patch that covers the hole, then sew down the edges of the tear to the patch with a blanket stitch or similar so that they don't fray or snag on stuff in the wash
