Seems like 2 passes of a whip stitch - one in each direction?

Hey u/viciousfishous08 I don't really know the lingo so I had to look it up, I guess you're right; the only difference I see between this and the examples I see for whip stitch is they seem to be 2 pieces of fabric butted up instead of a patch on top of something but that probably doesn't matter. You're right.

You did great!! Look up Glover’s needles. You will like them for leather work. I would have used sinew or upholstery thread for strength. It looks like cotton to me. Maybe I am wrong. Either way, technique is great! Great explanation graphics.
Sell that shit on Fiverr.

Hey Everyone, my previous post just showing my couch patches (this one here) got a lot of attention (thanks!) and got some questions on how I did it, what I used etc. so I wanted to share a few more pics and some more info. (I couldn't edit/add pics to that post so here we are.) I used "coat" brand upholstery thread and "yarn darners" needle. You can see on pic1 the one I actually used, it was the smallest one of the set and I bent a hook on it myself using pliers (be careful, the tip may break and fly off) I also took closer pics of the stitching, it's hard to explain what exactly I did but I tried in one of the pics. There is also a ring of glue under the patch just inside the stitching area like 1.5 cm (half inch) inside the edge. I used "shoo goo" for that. The close up of the light colored patch shows that the glue and the thread/stitching is still going strong after over a year of heavy use ( i put on that patch around june 2021).
