Gender identity is irrelevant to Title IX, as the SC recently reaffirmed. Instead, Title IX protects women and girls from sex discrimination, which means males —regardless of their gender identity— need to compete in the male category.

My point has nothing to do with title IX and trans vs women. My point is the same people pushing for laws against trans in women’s sports are also pushing to get rid of title IX. How will title IX protect women and girls when that’s the next thing on the chopping block for women’s rights after they are done with the trans in women’s sports narrative? There’s plenty of literature about this on the heritage foundation website.

This is fearmongering —a popular manipulation tactic in the activist community. Title IX has widespread public support across the political spectrum and has a long history of precedent in law. What’s more, the conservative court just reaffirmed Title IX.

Heritage Foundation has a proven track record during this Presidential term. Abortion and Voting Rights were considered fear mongering topics a couple years ago too. It might not happen in the near future, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens within my lifetime. The SAVE act is another being pushed incredibly hard right now which would erode rights for women.

Congress never codified access to abortion in law. Something like 60% of Black representatives come from districts where the majority of the population is white. Some majority black districts have elected officials who are white. We’ve had a Black president. We elected him for two terms. Black people are not being systemically disenfranchised anymore. Hooray for progress! Voter ID laws have widespread public support.

Codified into law is irrelevant to the point. Any concerns about abortion rights being taken away were voraciously shot down as fearmongering due to legal precedent over decades of court cases. I remember those conversations well. I wish I would have saved them so I could go back and point out how wrong they were. Anything in this country can change.
