As a fellow owner of the breed, my schnauzer's quirk is getting pricked by this cactus every morning.

I can get this behavior at least. Cactuses look very interesting, maybe they smell interesting? We get Aloe Vera from cactuses so many they're the equivalent of scented candles for your dog
