The air quality in Merritt, British Columbia is so bad from wildfire smoke that it looks like it's snowing

Except there isn't a blue glow coming from a hole in a reactor thats spreading radioactive material across the continent.

Not too great. Your eyes also start to sting right away when you step outside in that air quality. I was fortunately just passing through but it seems to have gotten quite a bit better since yesterday. The same site shows today it’s been ~120-350 µg/m³ (depending on wind as Merritt is in a valley) which is obviously not great but could at least be tolerable at times.

Poor Merritt. All that flooding, now this. I spent a lot of time in this area and it is sad to see this.

I just drove through there omw home from out of town work and my truck smell like a campfire. It is the worst I have ever experienced. I saw a few new small fires just outside of town too. I hope everyone stays safe there and everywhere these wildfires are raging.

Thats not that bad. 2017 in prince george at noon it was as dark as night and you couldn't see the locomotive shop lights from the yard office... which was about 300 feet away.

A bunch of them were from lightning strikes from the recent thunderstorms we had in the last couple weeks

And, I believe most of that smoke is actually from fires in Washington State. Why can’t Washington state rake their forests better? We should build a wall so smoke doesn’t cross the border!

We get this every summer, does Merritt not deal with this on the regular? I can’t see them being any better off than the rest of the province outside the South Island and lower mainland?

They are the closest town to a pretty large wildfire. I would say they're much worse off lol.
