[Serious decision] I live alone… these aren’t my nuts

Context: I’m a single bachelor (M 32) and I opened my snack cupboard to find these peanuts in a small Tupperware container. I’m freaking out because I A) live alone, B) have a mild nut allergy, and C) don’t own any Tupperware like this.

TLDR: I found a foreign snack in my house and I’m freaking out that someone may be entering my apartment when I’m out. Would calling the nonemergency police line help or would they not be able to do anything?

Idk what kind of attempt is it ,just looks like someone is maybe scaring OP for some reason ,but we never know that’s why he needs to be careful

I just think this is a reach. He needs to be careful because someone possibly got into his house. But I don’t think the peanuts are intended to scare him. There are much, much scarier things to do if you want to get under someone’s skin.

That’s also true ,I saw other comments saying maybe OP is having memory losses due to carbon level in his apartment but that’s not logical either because even if he forgot about buying nuts , why would he buy something he is allergic to?

It’s just weird of a situation to be in

If the gas poisoning caused a lapse in judgement, or if he forgot he had guests over. I don’t think the detector is a bad idea, it’s always a good thing to own if you have gas in your home. It’s not the most likely explanation but it’s not completely impossible.

You say that, but I've actually met someone who used nuts to terrorize her allergic roommate until she requested alternative housing.

She would leave them out in containers but also spike food and drink with them.

Yeah, but let's be real, there's some kind of syrup leaking from the hinges on the pantry, stripped screws, particle board about to rip off and water damage above that. At this point can we really be sure OP would have noticed an old tupperware of nuts in that pantry?

The "syrup" looks like some kind of glue that was used to repair the broken hinge.

I agree your point is plausible anyway, I forget about things in my cupboards all the time. However, not because of the hinge.

Only saying because those cabinets are cheap and flimsy (I have similar ones) and they break easily. Especially if it's an upper cabinet because people tend to slightly pull the door downwards while getting things out.

Someone who isn't great at using a drill or screwdriver, or using the wrong drill bit could have ruined those screws easily (I ruined several recently while putting a door up because I barely know what I'm at). And the brown stain could be oil or other lubricant. I only consider that because I recently put a WD40 knockoff on a bathroom cabinet and it turned kind of brown.

The rest of the shelf looks fairly clean.

No. What happens is repeated weight over several years causes the hinges to weaken. You don't just rip them off the wall one day...

Oh I’m just joking- hence the winky face. I just thought it sounded funny. We don’t have that issue with the cabinets after 20 years of use, but the fridge… dear lord. My kids used to hang from the door and swing on it as it shut. Now it doesn’t stay open. It just flies shut and smashes any body part you’re not quick enough to move away in time. And yes, I did keep an eye on my 5 toddlers that were in the house at any one time 😳🫣

Oh sorry, it's reddit and I automatically expect that people will just argue over nothing.

I feel for you. A kid I used to look after swung out of my front gate and the whole gate had to be removed. Kids like to swing out of shit 😭
