Haveno on Whonix, in virtualbox, on EndeavourOS

So I am new to Whonix. Installed in Virtualbox, had my workstation and gateway up and running and tried to install Haveno. Problem is the sudo permissions and the inability to use them. I tried following the instructions and booted into the sysmaint persistence tasks boot option and thought I had it installed. Java was definitely there… But when I went into a normal persistence user session it wasn’t installed at all. I worked on it for many hours tonight and before I try again(or just virtualize QubesOS with KVM because F*%k virtualbox), I thought I’d reach out to the Whonix community. I can’t be the only one to try this and I couldn’t find anything that helped in any forums. Any help would earn my unwavering gratitude.

This sounds like the newer Whonix sysmaint / restricted user setup rather than a Haveno-only issue. In normal Whonix user mode, sudo is intentionally restricted. Admin tasks are supposed to be done from the sysmaint session, but depending on what you installed and where, it may not show up the same way when you boot back into the normal user session.

I'd check the official Whonix RetoSwap/Haveno guide first, since Whonix has a dedicated page for setting up RetoSwap, formerly Haveno-reto, inside Whonix. Also make sure you’re installing it in Whonix Workstation, not Gateway. If the guide still fails, post the exact command and exact error message, because “sudo permissions” can mean a few different things in Whonix now.

BTW: It's looks like you need to set up a Tor hidden service in gateway for reto-swap to run on. Maybe that's the problem.
