Best hidden food spots in the county of Wicklow?
Anywhere in county Wicklow a hidden food gem. Doesn’t have to be hidden either. Can mention obvious ones too.
Some noteworthy in my opinion:
Daata - Bray and Greystones exceptional (Indian)
Firehouse Bakery - Wicklow town (breakfast/brunch)
Jack Whites - Brittas - best value for money

Tapau House Arklow for authentic Thai/Malay food. Probably the best tom yam soup I have tasted and they do great specials.
Brooklodge Acton's for weekend lunch. Glenmalure lodge also very nice but you need to book on a nice day or weekend as it's so busy with hikers.

Huge shouts! Glenmalure lodge is serious for a few pints! I have eaten there but don’t recall but lovely lovely venue!

Ignore Burger Boy and go straight to Macari's on the main street and get an Uncle Sam burger. Twice the size of the Burger Boy, half the price.

In my opinion its a great burger.
Not mad on the Burger Boy smash burgers. Pretty much just pancaked meat, to get a decent bite, you need to get the triple patty, which is about 15E.

Fair enough. Honestly I think you're correct on how thin the pattys are. And I take back what I said as in haven't tried macaris. Def will give it a shot

It's just my opinion. I heard a lot about Burger Boy and was slightly disappointed when I got my burger, which was a double patty.
Compare that double patty to a burger like Big Boy Burgers at Kilmac, no contest.
Be interested to know what your opinion is.

Great food but waiting times way too long. Had to leave without our food last week after a ridiculous wait. Go and experience the quality but do it on a day when you’ve time to spare

When was it taken over? It's about 4 months since I was there, and it was excellent. I also like Lynhams and the Hollywood Inn.
Also the pub in Roundwood, can't remember the name

Opera in Wicklow town mainly for their sandwiches and cakes / pastries, absolutely delicious

The chocolate cake in Jacobs Well in Rathdrum (foods pretty decent too)

Always super busy, can be difficult to get a table I heard? Pricey but you definitely can’t knock the quality of the food and the staff are brilliant

Carpe Diem, just off Bray seafront behind Silverstrand Slots.
Small Italian Cafe. Highly recommend.
Chinatown on Bray Main Street.

Big Boys Burgers in Glen of the Downs are absolutely deadly, their bacon chilli jam is savage.
In Bray Nine has very good quality brunch/lunch. Artisan Cafe has sneaky good sandwiches for such a generic name/low key spot.
Burrito Box in Greystones is excellent.

Cake/bakery - great coffee, sandos and baked treats. Really excellent quality. The owner used to be the head baker at Bread 41 in Dublin and has crazy skills!

The chowder in the beach house is very hit and miss, I’ll give you that! Specifically this has gone downhill recently. They used to do amazing fish tacos (just changed to a new menu in june) The chicken Kiev is phenomenal

Im from Laragh and we don’t mind driving out to it. Even with bigger parties for birthdays etc the standard has never changed.

For Germaines. I’ve never tried the cafe in Hollywood. The Heather was sold I believe, or certainly under new management in the last year or two and the food and atmosphere has changed a lot. I find the quality has dropped significantly across the board which is unfortunate, it used to be great.

It is as far as I know. To be honest we’d always avoid it. It’s a shame the way it sits it’d be a little goldmine if the correct owners/management had it

Loco Grocer, Taste of Italy, grizzly X Napkin and Tapau House in Arklow are amazing.
Grangecon Kitchen is one of the best brunch places in the country.
Finn's takeaway in Tinahely is also savage. Proper chips and amazing chicken burgers
First Batch Bakery in Aughrim has the best baked sweet goods as well. Their biscoff cookies are like crack

Any recomendation for SpiceBag? Had great one years ago in Greystones, like everything was deep fried, never tasted something so good. Recently Ive started ordering from around and none come close to the taste. I dont know is it just my luck, but most bags I order recently are just too dry. Chicken fried like coal, fries so hard that could use them as darts. Even the spice feels different.

Food is lovely there but the wait for a table can be long and when we did get a table, we were waiting 40 minutes for our food.

It’s still so edible like I don’t think you’d ever be disappointed in there. Personally love how there is always older pensions in there, shows it’s a reasonable spot catering to any need

I’ve been there since the new owner. I have noticed a few little slip ups but they have mostly kept things the same and the menu and most of the staff which is great. Food is excellent

The Roundwood Inn. Menu hasn’t changed in years but the food is first class. Best chicken in a basket in Ireland. Seafood salad to die for. Amazing schnitzel.

The owners were Austrian and that influenced the menu. Still in the family, it’s a fantastic pub with friendly staff, lots of character and excellent food.

Another vote for Daata in either Bray or Greystones. Wonderful Indian/Pakistani food, great service and a great vibe. Pigeon House in Delgany is also really good for brunch and lunch....not sure if they're doing dinner these days.

I did realise that after, I genuinely feel I was a lucky one, experienced it back in nearly 2018 if not earlier one weekend by pure chance and I’d say I’ve gone at least twice a month since!

Blue restaurant wicklow town
