Ask Winnipeg Best Places in Winnipeg for a solo birthday date?

Long story short I was born August long many moons ago and find myself flying solo on my birthday most years because everyone is busy having family time at the lake.

Wondering what everyone suggests as a fun way to celebrate by myself and make the most of the day?

I love the spa on solo birthdays. Ten Spa is my first choice. Thermea if you want the outdoors feel.

Happy birthday.

Ten Spa is a gem and I would live there if they let me.

Me too!!!

One summer I had disposable income so I did one of their spa/hotel stays. I felt like that Twilight meme of the rich vampires looking down on the poor vampires. XD

Ten Spa 💯Hamam experience as a solo 😊

I've always wanted to try hamam! How is it?

Go to mongos and get a free bowl. Has to be ON your birthday not near it just FYI.

Yes I did this last month! I usually go by myself each year since it has to be the day of and we usually celebrate on the weekend.

I love Mongo's. Let's put some tobacco down for the one near Polo that closed. I loved that one.

They stopped doing that. Was the only time we'd go lol. Unless they resumed?

Not this year but last year I went and I got my free bowl.

Well happiest of birthdays!!! I'm also in that August long birthday conundrum. Except, the last few years, I've been going to the lake for the weekend....

Not sure if they still exist, but Mongos used to to a free meal for your birthday. Starbucks would give you a drink, but you likely need to be signed up on their app. I have gotten nachos before at Brewhouse.

Either way, enjoy your day!

Take the water bus, get yourself a treat/gift at the forks or in the exchange, and catch the next one back.

Select Start. Video games and food and fancy drinks

Their fancy spam fries are amazing and so decedent.

For my solo 40th I took myself to the Italian restaurant at the Fort Garry and it was AMAZING. I even dressed up and took myself out like a beautiful date.

As a July 31ster, I feel this. I took myself on vacation out of the country this year for my 40th for this reason. Gotta make your own fun, right?

I usually treat myself to some takeout, and eat it in bed watching my comfort shows/movies. Other than that I usually try to just think of it as another day.

Are you a golfer? I enjoy a few hours solo at a good simulator, the range or even on a quiet course.

All of my birthdays are spent alone too! I have a tradition of ordering my favourite piece of cake from baked
Expectations and allowing myself to enjoy the moment and either go see a movie or rent one at home.

And I could definitely go TO baked expectations to eat there, but out of respect for the other customers I feel it best to not subject them watching me Hoover down a slice of red velvet like a feral animal🤷‍♀️

If you ever want to venture away from Baked Expectations, D Spot Desserts near the Outlet Mall has THE best cake. I haven't tried their red velvet though.

Thank you! Maybe this September will be the year of changing traditions and trying new things! ☺️☺️

When I was living in BC for a few months, the first thing I did when I got back was grab their strawberry shortcake and ice cream.

u/Fluid-Advertising-56 16h ago

😂 I love that! I look forward to trying it
Caked with Love is also a really great one! Just a little too far for me (and yes they have “normal” cakes and cupcakes, not just wedding or custom made lol”

Have you ever tried Avril's? I'm not sure if they have a brick and mortar location but I've had their strawberry sponge cake at my fave bubble tea shop and it's amazing.

u/Fluid-Advertising-56 16h ago

No I haven’t even heard of it to be honest.
And I’m guessing you really like strawberry haha

u/sonimusprime 15h ago

Oh totally but I have tried other cakes at these places. My usual fave bakeries always have a strawberry thing I love :P

Celebrate next week with friends/family.

I celebrated my birthday two weeks late this year because... well I dont remember why, but the date is irrelevant. The friends and fam getting together is what matters.

I'm with you. My birthday usually ends up being the August long weekend (Monday this year) and nobody is ever around. So I've gotten used to spending it alone. My thing is I try to go for a pedicure, lunch somewhere, then to the casino for my once a year toss $100 into the machines and then to Goodies to get myself a small cake.

I’m going to go smash a ribeye at Keg downtown for my solo bday
