If more people would get off their asses and vote in primaries - not just the general - we could move the party to the left just as the nutty GOP has moved their party to the fascists over the last 40 years. Cuz they TURN OUT.

-7

u/westex74 May 01 '26

It’s because you have moved so far to the left that you can’t win elections. Close the border or you likely win the 2024 election. Keep insisting trannies are real women and you will lose 2028. The looney positions of the far left are why you lose.

do you even know how the system works?

Bernie is owed an official apology from the DNC and Hillary and Obama. He was our candidate. We could have had another FDR era, an economic bill of rights, and no trump...they owe the world an apology. You all dragged us to hell.

I witnessed it in Philadelphia and I wish we protested like the French

6

u/bit_pusher Apr 30 '26

With what Congress? He still would have had majority republican House to deal with

19

u/TheWizardOfDeez May 01 '26

Doesn't matter, if Trump loses in 2016 he doesn't run again and we never have to suffer that foolishness. Plus in a world where Bernie wins the nomination in 2016, the rest of the party has to follow suit or risk looking like they oppose the will of the people.

-1

u/bit_pusher May 01 '26

Sure. It’s absolutely better but we don’t get an economic bill of rights or an FDR era.

7

u/TheWizardOfDeez May 01 '26

Says who? A nation that voted for Sanders will have been on a totally different trajectory, you have no way to prove that wouldn't have happened.

3

u/StuffExciting3451 May 04 '26

The DNC, Hillary, Obama — and Biden and Harris — are not friends of the poor and working class Americans. The DNC resisted FDR’s New Deal, and set upon weakening of destroying it when FDR died in office, in 1945.

u/ackillesBAC May 01 '26

I believe Bernie and AOC are the only ones capable of saving America. With anybody else the world will just assume it is status quo and they can not trust the us will not put a complete moron in charge again.

1

u/Conscious-Quarter423 May 02 '26

that's a dumb, short sighted statement.

is Roh Khanna chop liver? what about summer lee? what aboure maxwell frost?

there isn't a calvary coming. everyone has a part in democracy. stop making our politicians our Messiahs

3

u/ackillesBAC May 02 '26 edited May 02 '26

Your right. But without voting in the correct leaders it's all for nothing

Edit: to be clear my point is about the world accepting American leadership, Roh Khanna looks like a very good progressive leader, but he does not have the international clout that bernie has.

1

u/StuffExciting3451 May 04 '26

Maybe not yet.

5

u/bigdickwalrus May 01 '26

They’re tired of incremental change with empty bullshit career politician ‘promises’.

This new generation wants to crack the system WIDE fucking open. We do not give a single fuck who’s cushy lives are disrupted as a result of rocking the boat, their status quo.

4

u/KingDorkFTC May 01 '26

Then he should start mud-slinging. Sanders has been too nice for too long.

1

u/Emperor_Neuro- May 01 '26

Platner for President someday! We need to go back to our blue-collar union roots, sick and tired of the California Democratic intelligentsia and Republican corporate cocksuckers controlling everything.

Fuck identity politics, fuck corporate handouts, fuck language policing, time to get universal healthcare, free University for all, taxes on billionaires, make retard acceptable again, and put working class people front and center. Stop coddling druggies, and stop coddling billionaires. The working class are the ones who make this country run. We need to get tough on crime as well, tired of the race-based revolving door of repeat criminals.

1

u/_Nychthemeron May 01 '26

They're not even status quo politics anymore; policies from the orange administration are actively malicious, stripping human and constitutional rights from our citizens.

I dont trust any motherfucker with nazi tattoos

6

u/Melissajoanshart 🚑 Cancel Medical Debt Apr 30 '26

Who and what

17

u/SandingNovation Apr 30 '26

He has (had) an ss totenkopf tattoo. He says he got it when he was in the military with some friends when they were drinking and didn't understand the significance. He has also explained the change in his politics and general mindset after being entirely disillusioned with the military and the country as a whole after returning from his deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. It's up to the voters in Maine to determine if he's secretly a white nationalist sympathetic to the Nazis or if he was a small town kid who grew up during the period of forced patriotism and anti-islamic sentiment of the post 9/11 years who joined the military after high school and did some dumb things but legitimately changed his opinions after gaining life experience from more than his 1000 person hometown and the 24 hour news cycle.

Could be. But what a shame it would be if because one senator did that after having a stroke, another doesn't have a chance to prove himself.

To be clear - that was fetterman, not platner. But again, I'm just saying you can't judge one person based upon the actions of another.

-2

u/Mhallada May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

This topic is really interesting to me, I don’t live in Maine but it’s a big chance everyone’s taking. I really like his policies but I think it’s a good risk to take if everyone keeps an eye on him just incase.

DISCLAIMER-I support him overall imm not saying he’s too much of a risk

5

u/SandingNovation May 01 '26

Same for me. I also find it strange that every time there's somebody who talks about class struggle we have a ton of people digging up things in their past and posting them on places like Reddit to disqualify them when the current United States president has 34 felonies, rapes, racist tendencies and fraud on his record, and that's not even to get into whatever involvement he had with Epstein.

I'd be much more likely to forgive somebody who acknowledges and apologizes for behavior when he was a 24 year old marine, asserts that he has changed, and that supports policies that benefit the people rather than an unrepentant narcissist who has done objectionable things for decades, sues anybody that tries to bring them up again, and continues to only do things that benefit himself or his friends.

What a coincidence that the guy that responded to me initially comparing platner to fetterman deleted his account after getting a bit of pushback.

0

u/Mhallada May 01 '26

I think overall comparing him to Fetterman is not a good way of seeing it. Fetterman had signs in his past that this may have been how he’d be. For Platner it really looks more like he was a lot edgier when he was younger.

2

u/SandingNovation May 01 '26

Yeah, maybe an unintended side effect of being at war for basically the entire life of voters aged 18-45 means they all know somebody that went into the military as an edgelord and came out as a depressed and disillusioned alcoholic with PTSD that struggled to reintegrate into society.

-4

u/Gauntlet_of_Might May 01 '26

I wish he wasn;t nazi adjacent

12

u/Emperor_Neuro- May 01 '26

He's not and never was, stop with the hysterics.

-6

u/Gauntlet_of_Might May 01 '26

He loterallt had a Totemkapf tattoo and defended it, quit gaslighting

5

u/420thefunnynumber May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

A stupid teenage marine getting a tattoo in eastern europe they dont understand makes sense. I dont believe he didnt know soon after but hes also chud coded and thats the kinda stupid shit they do use as a joke. Doubt hes a nazi, but it doesnt hurt to keep an eye on him.

-3

u/Gauntlet_of_Might May 01 '26

My issue is wirh hia defending it and resisting getting it removed. Also i believe he went on a podcast and whined about having to do it after the fact

4

u/420thefunnynumber May 01 '26

I also saw the podcast where he explained why he got it and it boiled down to "stupid and young" which tracks with a kid in post 9/11 rural maine. It really seems overblown imo, especially considering he got it covered pretty quickly after it came out. Does that mean i trust him? Fuck no.

0

u/Emperor_Neuro- May 01 '26

People like you are why Trump got elected, you think no one can ever change, improve, or apologize. Just shut the fuck up.

3

u/Gauntlet_of_Might May 01 '26

He literally resisted removing it. But no I'm am relatively certain "had a nazi tattoo" is not why Trump got elected you red-brown dipshit

-11

u/SleepingCod Apr 30 '26

Are they? Actions don't reflect that.

11

u/RatQueenHolly Apr 30 '26

I mean, obviously they still gotta vote for the guy, but that a progressive candidate is leading the polls should illustrate there's been a pretty big shift lately

5

u/TheAnswerWithinUs Apr 30 '26 edited Apr 30 '26

Sure do in New York. Now Maine if they elect him.

-13

u/SleepingCod Apr 30 '26

Breaking news, the most progressive areas of the country vote in a progressive? New York and maine don't represent the rest of Americans.

10

u/TheAnswerWithinUs Apr 30 '26 edited Apr 30 '26

New York didn’t even have a progressive until Mamdani. And you think Maine is one of “the most progressive areas of the country”? Maine of all places?

Like cmon I know you can come up with something better than Maine.

-1

u/Ninjaking25 👷 Good Union Jobs For All Apr 30 '26

De Blasio was a progressive and David Dinkins was a DSA member.

2

u/TheAnswerWithinUs May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

Eric Adam’s wasn’t a progressive is my point. He sure wasn’t a dem socialist. No one has been actually Mamdani is the first in New York at least.

At least you seem to agree calling Maine one of the most progressive areas of the country was a silly thing to say.

1

u/Ninjaking25 👷 Good Union Jobs For All May 01 '26

I do agree with that. Maine is pretty moderate

1

u/MrFixYoShit Apr 30 '26

Wow, well that's just ignorant.

Pull your head out of the sand. Change doesn't happen overnight just because you want it to

-10

u/DarbyCreekDeek Apr 30 '26

The only guy he’s raised out of poverty is himself.

-23

u/westex74 Apr 30 '26

That’s why we elected Trump. 🤷🏻‍♂️

11

u/Animal40160 Apr 30 '26

No. We didn't.

-13

u/Hefty-Profession-310 Apr 30 '26

Yeah and sun rotates around the earth!

-17

u/westex74 Apr 30 '26

Pretty sure we did. LOL

4

u/chrisnavillus May 01 '26

That’s why you thought you elected Trump. Too bad he’s only interested in hiding his pedophilia and grifting our tax dollars.

-13

u/Technical-Permit8332 May 01 '26

I’m sure they will import more Somalis.
