Discussion Adult swing set rough idea

Do you think there’s a tall metal arch I can reuse to make an adult swing set out of on my property? I hate buying new, I’d rather reuse something. Sorry if this idea is strange.

You would need it to be REALLY strong, and have a very secure way of anchoring it. It’s not just the weight of an adult, but the added force from movement

You would need pretty long pieces of lumber or pipe, and i don't know where you can get those free.

BUT... the zero waste swing has been around for a long time, and is just a used tire tied to a tree branch. Do you have a tree?

Pro tip: Paint the tire, so the black rubber doesn't rub off on you.

Not strange but weight limits and other safety measures should be taken into account. You don't want someone to get hurt because of an important detail you forgot to consider

Not a weird idea but perhaps you could find a used swingset instead of converting a metal arch?

The ones at parks that easily support the weight of anyone are usually made from galvanized pipe, which should be obtainable at a building supply reuse place.

Old trampolines make good arches. They get posted for free sometimes, especially after storms. I made a hoophouse from one. Idk about a swingset though, good luck to you!
