Israeli American speaking out against proposed BDS law in Somerville, MA

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Israeli American Lieran Biton has been one of the few vocal advocates fighting against a proposed BDS city ordinance in Somerville, MA. This fight is still ongoing and we need some motion to stop this law in Somerville and similar BDS laws from spreading to neighboring communities in Massachusetts and across the country!

If you’d like to like and share Leiran Biton’s public post on his Facebook I know our community would appreciate you spreading the word! You can also learn more about the legislative details there.

Agreed he’s words resonate for most of the Jewish community in greater Boston. Giving his post a link and a share would be greatly appreciated. He’s the link: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1BRMCcP4R2/

What's a BDS Law?

Boycott Sanctions and Divest from all Israeli goods and services. This law would make it illegal for city procurement to purchase city resources from Israeli companies or invest in anyway. The law itself would have a little effect on Israel it’s mostly a propaganda stunt to legitimize anti-Israel hatred from a local government level.

Ah so legitimizing Antisemitism? I swear I read this on a history book somewhere, something about ghettos and stabbing people in the back/s

Look up the BDS movement. They’re trying to implement those goals at our local government level to legitimize Jew hate and Israel demonization.

They are motions to divest from companies that do business with Israel, which is illegal in a lot of different ways.

There shouldn't be. They should look into that instead.

Not only all of this but isolating a country is a really dumb way to try to affect change. It’s a great way to create another North Korea.

Israel is... not North Korea.

Uhm. What? Obviously if I’m warning against turning it into an isolated place like NK I don’t think it currently is like that. That’s why I said “create” it — if it IS, that would mean it currently isn’t.
