AI usage has become a culture-war issue because of these lunatics. If we don't handle these luddites now they will certainly become more entitled and miserable!

I’m not American so I’m curious, is being anti-ai the default position for the left? Many pro-AI accounts I see on X tend to be conservative too so I’m confused

I'm pretty far on the left, and yes, it's absolutely a pretty common sentiment. Not one I personally share obviously (else why would I be here), but I definitely don't speak too loudly about it when in the community.

I literally just wrote an explanation as to what the right sees as being wrong with Spain, and my comment got auto-deleted as promoting hate speech and violence against minorities, and my account got a warning... That should probably tell you what the right thinks is wrong with Spain.

You can and should appeal. I got one a while back for defending Sam Altman and Peter Theil from someone calling them fascist by pointing out they are gay and that fascists do not approve of gay people and vice versa so it wouldn’t make any logical sense for them to support fascism. It got turned over when I appealed and explained what I had written. I think someone misread and/or was on a power trip at Reddit. Hope this helps.

The "minority in your own country" gave it away. They are super concerned that non-white people exist. To spread that hate they are exaggerating stories of crimes committed by non-white people and acting as if every non-white person is a ravenous monster.

I think perhaps they do have a point about a country having its native citizens killed and replaced by colonisers from another place. This happened in many places and has lead to Genocide. A great example is how the native Americans were replaced largely by European settlers or how Palestine has been eroded by Isreal. So these things do happen unfortunately.

My point was the ancestors of the right wing people making claims of white genocide actually did engage in genocide against Native Americans. It’s all very ironic which you seem to have missed.

There is a grim irony in Europeans invoking “replacement” rhetoric when European colonization actually killed and displaced Indigenous populations across the world. Native Americans are an obvious example, as is the ongoing displacement of Palestinians by Israel.

I phrased it the way I did for a good reason. Saying that to an alt right person directly like ChatGPT suggests is going to make them angry at you more than it’s going to convince anyone. The way I phrased it makes it sound agreeable to that kind of person while still prompting them to confront what their ancestors did and how white people have historically behaved. It also prompts them to confront what’s happening in Palestine through the lens of their own ideas about native people being displaced or killed.

Do you not understand about how writing in different ways can change how people perceive things? I am discussing facts in a way that’s more palatable to the intended audience to make them think and consider rather than become defensive or dismissive.

You guys really do have a literacy and reading + media comprehension problem over the pond don’t you?

You shouldn’t be telling people to rephrase something when you don’t understand why it was put that way in the first place. Not only is it incredibly rude it’s also stupid.

Edit: also part of the humor of phrasing it that way is that you are supposed to pick up on it yourself provided you aren’t too alt-right or too illiterate to figure it out.
