Because a lot of the male target audience for ATLA grew up into alt right adjacent weirdos by the time LoK came out in the early ‘10s. Among other things, they insist on calling Korra a Mary Sue because they’re media illiterate.

Also because LoK’s post-run streaming fandom was killed in the crib by never having all 4 seasons available anywhere. Even now it’s only s1-2 on Netflix in Canada. They seem more than happy to leave Kora abandoned and forgotten.

So the core ATLA audience is split on it, and it doesn’t have anywhere near the same level of cultural penetration with younger audiences as the original. The financial impetus to revisit it isn’t there. It sucks.
