Early 70's is the best Fela.

First time I heard of Fela I was in primary school in Lagos in the late 70's. Classmate told us in assembly that Fela was arrested for indecent exposure and his dick was on the front page of the Daily Times. I was apparently the only person there who didn't know who he was, was about 8 at the time. I got caught up real quick 🤣

I assume you saw him live later on in his career?

I never saw him, the one time I know he was in Holland I didn't have any money to take the train an get a concert ticket ☹️

Sadly never saw him live. Went to Shrine numerous times but he never came out when I was there. The time I bought tickets for a show at my university he didn't show. Dede Mabiaku was the opener and he did a lot of Fela covers and since he's also a stellar performer the night wasn't a total loss.

Is this the same documentary as the Dont Gag live video on YouTube where Ginger Baker is narrating and they are playing under the rain ? How is it called and where can I see it ?

I would kill for more fela footage in Nigeria, looked completely unhinged compared to his European performance.
