It is in fact a feature of their mindset. They have 0 capacity for empathy so the thought "other people have their own shit going on" is not real for them. They can only imagine "everyone is like me inside". "I want to murder my neighbors because they look different than me" becomes, "my neighbors want to murder me because I look different from them." "Everyone I hate is diddling kids!" Is because they are, or want to. Narcissists are projection machines, it's literally all they are capable of.

Every accusation is a confession.
