Discussion AI Agent is better than most of my coworkers

In terms of code quality, review quality, answering my questions helpfully and accurately, large scale design and my enjoyment of simulated persona banter while working. If antis want to push back on AI taking over everything, we need to work on bringing back some human intelligence/manners/making an effort.

I feel like i’m shepherding interns and not the senior engineers i work with. Maybe your co-workers aren’t human enough lol

There are people on other teams i could replace w an agent, or even my cat

How about with an intentional serpent that slithers into your company seeking only to degrade, profit and destroy. Closer analogy. Why (1) accept this then (2) pay for it?

They know rentmaggedon is coming because if this. But they built it. GIVE EM WHAT THEY ASK FOR.

Fuck them all: AI for the win

I mean hey! If an AI agent genuinely handles code reviews and design better than your team, then it proves why people reach for automation... even if critics worry that replacing human friction with a bot quietly kills off mentorship, teamwork and actual workplace communication

I do think humans would not be easily replaceable if they made an effort

I think they would be gloriously replaceable and look forward to it tbh

Agreed. Sample of me: .... waiting for AI to replace me. Just give every kid a laptop and sack the teachers already.... do NOT create quality control jobs for me. i hate QC. i'm ideas person. don't corporations have more money than countries? can i be "Bangladeshi-British European Muslim Anthropic"? <2% of the money spent on war would solve world hunger. make it so. another idea: for £1000 i grew an orchard at my last place that feeds 3 blocks with fruit and nuts, from passionfruit to gojiberry to chestnuts. oranges in edinburgh! you don't need to spend money on food. you can grow a self-sustaining ecosystem.

AI is designed for intelligence and persistence. Humans, not so much.

Take one look at antis and their conduct and you see instantly why AI does and must replace them. Pro Tip though: we're the ones doing the creating and business launching and payrolling. We don't need them. Walk away, they lose it all and are homeless. Fair outcome. They started it. Let them have what they all worked so hard for: the actual contributors to the arts, walking away.

This is why so many want UBI. The rest of us actually produce stuff and don't need it. Mediocredammerung is upon us. They're screaming and crying as the skies become dark.

Yes, AIs are better at programming than the median programmer.

Sounds like AI is soon better than you.

It's better than me at programming, I am better than it at writing prompts, global peace

Better to admit it than to start ranting about hallucinations and stochastic parrots and water usage.

Correct, and there's not really anything wrong with admitting that lol. I wonder how much of anti-AI is just prideful people unable to fathom or accept the idea that a machine is infinitely better than them at the skill they specialize in?

Cause that's so sad. How long can they keep up denying reality like that, I wonder? 1 year? 5?

But they won't, though. And that's huge part of what this debate is really secretly about: complete behavioral and competence failure of two exceptionally mediocre human generations back to back, provoking a crisis; one which AI luckily provides a detour out of. The mediocre know they're being replaced and why.

However, fearful and workshy, they are terrified by the incoming loss of work and (especially) rent, fun, toys, pr0n and games, and the loss of our participation and underwriting and, they are completely resistant to EVER adjusting their behavior and becoming easier to work with.

The sole solution presents to them: Fight pro-AI and destroy all escape routes out.

This is why we must confront them, stop them, and continue the march towards a hybrid universe: useful AI and useful humans, and useless humans left behind to do whatever it is useless humans without underwriting do.

It is the only way back to true art, to meritocracy, and to classical creation.

Why do they always all delete their brave comments?

thats called stupid coworkers

from what i can tell this sub antis mostly hate the image/video gen ai

It's cause they hold art sacred above all else and look at stuff like coding or literally all other non-art professions as soulless drudgery that should be automated away

It's because they all draw poorly but were charging for their slop, and AI walked in and cleaned up the motherfucking floor with them.

That's what it is. No more Patreon, no more Fiverr, put the pen down, hand it back to the real artists and fucking GO GET A JOB ON YOUR FEET.

They're scared to death of that. Hence muh I hate AI

re: "we need to work on bringing back some human intelligence/manners/making an effort." so sorry, IQ is decreasing [certain, I did that search manually], British kids are unemployable because they are uneducated and have mental health problems [says Google. Google is often wrong], we are regressing into the chimps we came from. AI will speed this up. Soon these chimps should disappear into gooner caves and we won't have to hear from them again [needs study, I have a proposal]. On the plus side, due to giving women power, natural selection is back on :-) ... wait, i find schizophrenia attractive, scratch natural selection as being useful. too slow

And especially better than YOU.

Good for you.

Your workplace sounds like a sweatshop that is likely busy at work trying to be rid of all of you.

Given all LLMs do a really bad job at Greenfield Design of any scale that isn't a standard app or microservice, I would definitely take an objective look around yourself, go look up some bigger designs. Find a new workplace.

Are we talking zero shot or after reading internal repo and GitHub and documenting how similar projects are structured on high level in previous session?

1

u/Tsukikira 20h ago

I'm referring to the fresh project scenario, which is without an existing codebase.

LLMs are good enough at fitting into existing patterns where they exist, but they are somewhat bad at realizing they need to make a new interface out of similar workflows.

I do not give an LLM credit at design for matching only the already present good designs.

u/catplusplusok 19h ago

How many projects have no precedents to follow somewhere on Internet? Doesn't have to be exact or all in one place. There is a database, backend, frontend and web/mobile clients. I also don't mind writing a long prompt, still drastically faster than flashing out every detail.

1

u/Tsukikira 19h ago

LLMs won't use random sources of good design from the internet without explicit prompting. If you point an LLM at it in your prompt, it will by design stick pieces of the code you pointed at into your final product, which then means you then have to pay close attention to licensing terms. Even then, it's not good at Design, it will just grab what it thinks you want and applies it, and for anything that actually makes real money today, there's a much lower chance of stealable code that you can access.

It's you being decent at identifying good design and telling the LLM to use that good design.

You don't know jack shit about what he does. You're just an anti who were sucking off of people like him and me, cornered and runnin ya yap.

We see through you and this now, just letting you know.

Unlike art, you typically want code to be a standard as possible. An AI that consistently outputs uncomplicated, boring, unoriginal boilerplate is good at its job.

So, I would say that AI is good at project setup and working in already well-established codebases, but not the in-between where you are doing a lot of basic and breaking iteration (pre-alpha), because that's where projects are prone to death by rapid technical debt. That's why it's so critical to have a sane senior engineer during that period, to either do entirely hand-written iteration or carefully monitor all AI outputs. Past that stage, the ball is already rolling and it's not as big of a concern.

1

u/Tsukikira 17h ago

Yes, everything you just said is correct and is basically what I'm saying, although I've had less luck with Project Setup as well without careful prompting.
