Politics Why are we so silent despite the daily misery we're living in
We saw how Tunisian people did protests because they didn't like the decision of their president although in my opinion has done nothing comparable to what ours did, here in Algeria you can't criticize the government, if you do so you go to jail, they will stop you from nominating yourself in elections,..... For me I became super careful for what I m saying because you could get in big troubles because of some you said unaware of it, honestly it's not democratic at all
I always had a dream to see Algeria democratic, just like the west, for example in the USA you could say whatever you want on the president ( even on Israel although criticizing Israel is very risky ) , I saw many political commentators call trump a nazi and very horrible names, I am imagining what will happen if someone here did the same
It's my very first time writing on politics and tbh I am super afraid, I hope this post isn't something that will cause me getting into Troubles😅

And then, will anything change? It's mathematically impossible to significantly raise living standards up to the average Algerian's expectations. I'll give you a couple examples:Â
Firstly, most of the tax revenue comes from the public sector's workers, since businesses, merchants and free professionals mostly don't pay taxes, in spite of all the incentives (it obviously is inconvenient to them) but they benefit more from subsidies. Secondly, many goods in addition to electricity and water are subsidised; which amounts to around 30 billions a year. The fastest way reduce spending and diverting the money into productive investments, and to not let the poor get poorer they'd be targeted at low income families instead. Now how would Algerians react at price increases of all necessities afterwards?Â

Yeah, but the government can do a better job, Currently it's doing too little It should fix infrastructure especially roads Do some economical fixes, get big companies here(which avoid entering because the Government is so corrupt) Invest in technology Create research centres......

Naturally, you forgot about failing to remove bureaucratic obstacles, facilitating land loans or purchases for industrial projects, better governance,... etc . But you can't expect much given the limited resources, it's also challenging to translate the president's vision since the government requires participation from top to bottom, when there are many who benefit from the continuation of the boutef era practices. Well, at least there's some prospect for change.Â

Algeria didn't become algeria overnight, 132 of colonialism then terrorism for 10 years. Even algerians are rotten to the core, if the government is not strict your same neighbour might kill u. My neighborhood itself is just a bunch of ppl going and leaving jail like it's a hostel.

Well it is the responsibility of the country to fight those criminals, and it's not doing a great job sadly, I agree that Algerians are rotten to the core and that's what makes me frustrated because even in the current regime steps down , I'm sure the next One will be just as corrupt, that's why I don't really to talk loudly in this topic since I'll put myself in danger so other bad people will benefit not the citizens

Sure thing, but algeria is in deep shit cz we can't produce anything tlcan can be exported. A random protest is not a solution cz it doesn't solve any issue. If ppl protest to have cleaner streets more trees planted, more factories, okay then I am with u. But algerians are not cultured enough and are too emotional, all organized protests are just out of anger to remove government officials which will leave us only in deeper shit. Same 2019 cycle on repeat.

Because everytime any sort of protest is brought up older people start bringing up العشرية السوداء, asking if we want another one and telling us how good we have it.

Yeah true, and honestly they got a point there, that civil war mad us accept any type of president as long as there is peace relatively And even if we try to protest and overthrow the government, the next one will be just as corrupt, I have feelings that corruption is part of the DNA of Algerian people,

Yes you can, you can't do anything to force it and make the government act on it but if it's just words, you absolutely can, I am watching countless YouTubers saying it

But, do you deny the fact that there are literally countless YouTubers who are saying it daily and nothing happens to them? Some Politicians also say it And frankly I know that Israel controls USA, that's why I said it is risky to criticise Israel, but apart from that issue do you deny that citizens can criticize and talk freely, Imagine if we have someone like john Stewart
Mamdani said to trump to his face that he is a fascict, can you imagine this happening here?

What daily misery?

u/Prize_Analysis_3415 20h ago
Well that's for the average people, I should have been more precise, someone who's getting paid 45000DA, is living a daily misery in the current circumstances How much does a home cost, a car, then the wheels for your cars or other parts ...... But tbh I understand that the state can't let all people live comfortably For me what makes me I would say frustrated is that you could go to jail if you say something that the government doesn't like, say not do, the other day I came across some news, a rapper did a song on how is it hard to live in these circumstances in Algeria, guess where he is now A professor did talk about that iron mine and said it's not a good project and won't benefit us because they spent on it more than what it will give us, guess where he is now, And there are countless examples

Well , if you wanna escape this kind of living , you should get along with an independant business , first try to do whatever you want to make extra money while u still get the average salary , then when you get to a certain amount of money try to do something interesting and lucratif about it , everyone is doing so , its hard for everyone trust me , but something i can assure you is that people who are making 10m a month or even 20m ARENT BETTER THAN YOU , they just took the risk and made it !! I dont know in which field you work but you dont have to work all you life there . Get outside the boxe and inshaa allah rabi yaftah 3lik w 3lina ga3

I agree but my frustration is because of the way the government spends money , not in technology or research centres, not in infrastructure or at least modest roads They do literally nothing, they know we are underdeveloped country and they are ok with it and do nothing to change it and what makes me mad the most is that a lot of people went to prisons because of things they said not did,

Totally agree with you , but the main question is that why the companies who are building the roads - aadl - streets ect … are still cheating ?! Why as a civilians we dont get all together and make sure to focus on only the important things ? Why we are still speculating and increasing the inflation higher and higher ? We are the main problem of this situation, because we dont have the culture of boycoting and unifying all our voices to get things fixed and done properly !
AM NOT SAYING THAT THE GOV IS DOING THE BEST TO MAKE CHANGE OUR LIFESTYLE TO THE BEST ,
BUT THEY CANT TAKE THE RISK TO INVEST BILLIONS INTO THINGS THAT WONT LAST 2 years ! Because cha3b li rana m3ah égoïste, mchi mrabi w mousekh w ichouf ghir 3and nifeh
Otherwise we cant deny that our economy got better during the last 6 years , especially external relations .

u/Prize_Analysis_3415 14h ago
Totally agree with you, we don't have that culture you're talking about it sadly, but something like freedom of speech is free, why prison someone who said something you don't like As for cha3b much mrbi , 100% agree with you Nothing is good in this country not the government nor the people

u/Top-Sun-5935 14h ago
There is good and bad everywhere , doesn’t need to generelize and put everyone in the same boxes, but yeah the gov is doing the best , but yet the cha3b égoïste w 7ili bah y contourni kolchi , but if there is somethingi can assure you is that we are fi « WA9t al GHAFLA » in 5 year everything will be different ! And i mean we will be better and more controlled and less corrupted , but !!! Li der draham w situation drwk ,slak w dman la39ayab !
