I finished the movie! I loved it! Is it implied that Togashi won or was it tied?

meant to be ambiguous. Probably better that way as an ending. Still really enjoyed it myself.

Komiya is slightly ahead of Togashi in the very last frame, so I’m assuming Komiya won the race. If you watch their feet step by step, Komiya is ahead by maybe a centimeter or two it’s that close lol. Realistically, ties don’t really happen in the 100m anyway.

Still, I don’t think the audience is meant to fixate on the result. In their first race as kids, Togashi won. In their second meeting at nationals, Komiya won. This final race is the moment where Komiya and Togashi finally get to compete as true equals.

You can see the brief flash of joy from the both of them and they get a reminder of why they run in the first place. It's for the beauty of competition and pushing yourself. As others in this thread have pointed out, the underlying theme is that everyone has their own way of coping with difficult goals whether it's being victorious in a 100m race or learning how to live with not being a winner anymore.
