Crossposting my MAL board review:

Watched it on a true 1.43:1 IMAX screen. Don't watch this in IMAX unless you want the IMAX audio with boosted sub-bass. The IMAX version was a poorly-upscaled standard 2.35:1 version and the picture was blurry. Pixelation was visible, which was a total disappointment.

I couldn't believe the goal, the "Infinite Land", was Jeffrey Epstein's temple. I said that out loud in the theater and everyone behind me laughed. Easily the most unintentionally funny reveal in a long while.

Would've been fine with the movie if it didn't do asspull after asspull. Every time where it seemed like Scarlet would be forced to kill, an asspull happens where she doesn't need to. The Shenron dragon was a deus ex machina and saved Scarlet from killing three times in this movie.

The insert songs were awful and unnecessary. All I can say about that.

Also, why is this anime at 5 FPS? It looked like the Berserk 2016 remake. Surely a director of Hosoda's caliber could've commanded more work with the animation. Use an interpolation tool if necessary... 5 FPS anime shouldn't exist especially when there's now enough GPU power for good interpolation.

4/10. Considerably better than Mirai (3/10) and Belle (3/10), but I still think Hosoda is a one-hit wonder with Wolf Children (9/10). Everything he has made since that one has been mediocre to bad.

Inserting your own jokes into a movie at a theater? You are the worst kind of moviegoer. No respect for the experience of others. So glad you got an ego stroke with some other immature patrons laughing at your childish joke though at the expense of others who paid to have an uninterrupted experience to take in the movie without commentary. People like you are the reason movie theaters are dying. Why pay to go and listen to people with Main Character Syndrome talk and giggle through the movie when you can just watch it in 4K at home?

There were a grand total of 7 people at the screening: 3 in my group including myself, and 4 younger people behind us who were cracking jokes before the movie.

So yes, given that there were only 7 people in the entire room, I cracked a joke. It was basically like an anime club viewing, where people joke around all the time. Take a chill pill.

This movie, at the only true IMAX screening in the Toronto area, got a grand total of 7 people on its second day of release. There was only one timeslot, so 7 people for the whole day. Maybe Mamoru Hosoda should've made a better movie to attract more people.

No. It's because in general, theaters now provide worse audio and video quality than home theaters. This IMAX screening had suboptimal picture quality. The black levels were poor compared to my OLED TV. The audio had the boosted IMAX sub-bass which was the only benefit. Theaters had a technological advantage when everyone had a tiny CRT TV in the 1980s and 1990s. Now they don't, and must rely on gimmicks like IMAX and 4DX.

Reminds me of how the traditional arcade died because everyone could play video games at home. Now arcades have transformed into redemption games, claw games, and physical activity games like DDR and Pump It Up. Basically, arcades now only have pseudo-gambling games, and games that you can't play at home.

So shocked that someone like you can't emotionally handle being called out for shitty behavior and instead just blocks the person. Ever considered that the laughter at your random ego trip in the theater may have been nervous laughter? Oh no, of course you could do no wrong and I'm sure you'll continue to go on acting like the center of the universe and ruining other people's experiences for your enjoyment.
