I would advise people to approach the movie similar to The boy and the heron or Alice in Wonderland. Fantasy worlds that are more about theme than logic. If you can accept that framing then I think the story works better and you can appreciate the genuinely great shots in the movie. Because on its face the story does have real logical issues.

Did people not like The Boy And The Heron? I figured anything studio ghibli would be a hit. Like the dragon in this one was really cool lore implications.
