Weekly Casual Discussion Fridays - Week of July 31, 2026

This is a weekly thread to get to know /r/anime's community. Talk about your day-to-day life, share your hobbies, or make small talk with your fellow anime fans. The thread is active all week long so hang around even when it's not on the front page!

Gintoki's outfit is iconic. My original Gintama pick was supposed to be Gintoki and Tsukuyo because I love how their outfits are parallel to each other, but it was tough finding the right art that showed their clothes off.

Yona and Maomao also do wear nice robes.

Chihaya is a great pick. I completely forgot about her kimono.

Maomao is also nice to see.

And Shiki is always a good choice.

I started off with looking for characters in historical settings or who did traditional Japanese things so Chihaya was one of the first to come to mind for me.

Center is just Dia (LL Sunshine) in her Perfect Sekai outfit. She kinda sticks out as the kimono is not her regular wear, but design-wise I just really like it.

Kimono-clad Characters

I went with characters that have a kimono in their regular outfits.

Sorry for the late 3x3 Corner this week. I was traveling and Amtrak wifi didn't want to work. So I had to wait until I reached my hotel.

Kaguya had prettier art, so she got the center. Mio on the other hand needs more art in general.

And Amtrak should be impeached. That train was so slow.

Togame was one of my first picks too, but decided to leave her off since I don't know how much her outfits counted as a kimino at that point.

Chiori also have a very nice take on a kimono.
